The Increased run of mutton and lambs to North Portland met with a very good reception from buyers, and in general prices were maintained. The increase, while smaller than had been generally expected, was welcome, for the reason that for months the trade has been famished and S large por tion of Its dressed mutton require ments was brought in from Califor nia, owing to the home shortage. Demand for mutton and lamha has been so keen at North Portland re cently that the trade is still Inclined to make strong bids for supplies and no serious disturbance of values is an ticipated. May IS, Ilostonians' purchases of wool in the west have been made on a larger -scale this week, with values fully sustained. Pri ces in the domesUc market depend on whether England will permit Ameri cans this year to buy wool In Austra lia, and that is a matter of doubt. Sales during the week here were about 5,000.000 pounds, most of the purchasing territory in this market being by a leading mill interest, whose buyers found it possible to get choice old wool in Boston at a lower figure than prevailing In the west. Tet the j ame Interest has sold all of Its bet ter class of fools. Two million pounds of wool have been bought by eastern buyers this week in Idaho and Wyoming. Prices j ranged from 26 to 32 l-2c. Ohio fleeces continue to range from ! 30 to 35c. Scoured values of territory! continue from at 70 to 80c. London announces no importations from the next sales. DARKEN YOUR GRAY HAIR use GRANDMA'S SAGE TEA AND SULPHUR RECIFE AND NO RODY WILL RNOW. The use of Sage and Sulphur for re storing faded, gray hair to its natural color dates back to grandmother's time. She used It to keep her hair beautifully dark, glossy and attractive Whenever her hair took on that dull, faded or streaked appearance, this simple mixture was applied with won derful effect. Rut brewing at home is mussy and out of date. Nowadays, by asking at any drug store for a 59 cent bottle of "Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Com pound," you will get this famous old preparation. Improved by the addition of other ingredienta, which can be depended upon to reatore natural col or and beauty to the hair. A well known downtown druggist aaya it darkens the hair so naturally and evenly that nobody can tell It has been applied. You simply dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one strand at a time. By morning the gray hair disappears, and after another application or two, it becomes beautifully dark and glossy. Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Com pound Is a delightful toilet requisite for those who desire a more youthfu. appearance. Farmers who planted their wheat last fall are complaining because of the backward condition of the ground. In some sections of the valley, It is re Ported, the surface of the fields is hard to a depth of several Inches and that as a consequence the stand of grain Is poor; that the young plants are having a hard time in making a normal growth, and that the stand ih most places is thin and unhealthy in appearance. This condition is ac counted for by the fact that unusually heavy snow fell during the winter, and was followed by an excess of pre cipitation this spring, and the soil, saturated with water, baked under the warm sunshine. It is a condition farmers say, that has not existed here or many years, and Is not complained or In fields that were sown this spring. All employes of the General Elec tric .
