Hood)Ice Cream is made of Homogenized Cream What It Homogenised Cream? It is cream that is heated to 185 deg. (which sterilises It) and then passed through a machine that subjects it to a pressure of from 3000 to 5000 lbs. This breaks up all the fat globules distributing them unlformily through the Uquid and making an emulsion so per fect tht it cannot be separated by the most powerful machinery. This process makes the cream more easily digested and also pre vents the cream and water separating in the freezing operations. Many European and Canadian hospitals require homogenised cream for all their patients. Why Mt. Hood Ice Cream It The Beat 1st. It is made of homogenized cream. !nd. It Is not touched by hands in the making. 3rd. No other product but ice is made or handled in the same building. 4th. It is a principal product not a "side issue" or by-product like that made in butter factories, bakeries and candy factories. Mr. Olcott is an official who refuses to be a man of putty. He thinks for himself. This was often shown during the administration of Governor West and it is true under the present administra tion. The republican politici ans liked Olcott's independ ence when West was governor and they did not fight him for renomination then. But they don't like his independence now. They want a man who will play ball and take their signals. But will it be a good thing BELATKD HONOR "The folks who lived in Shake- speare's day e And saw that gentle figure I I : aaas By London bridge, his frequent i to further strengthen the hands e way They little knew what man dictment of wealth, particu- larly so at this time. There is a well recognized sentiment to j the effect the United States it it is to be adequately defended must greatly increase its naval and military strength. The demand for this vigor our policy of preparedness comes very largely from the well-to-do. Wherever the voice of wealth is expressed in any manner it is insistent upon greater preparedness. If through failure to properly de fend the nation disaster should ever come to the United States the financial damage would fall most heavily on those hav ing large interests. While preaching prepared ness wealth should practice its own teachings by paying the income tax required by law. If the government could get the $320,000,000 said to be un paid it tvould assist mightily in building up the fleet. ORGANIZATION OF PARENT - TEACHERS ENDS YEAR AT ECHO ItKV. J, K. (East Oregonian Special ) ECHO, Ore, May 13 Rev. J. E. Snyder of Pendleton addressed the Parent-Teachers' meeting last Wed nesday evening at the high school au ditorium. This was the last meeting of the Parent-Teachers' Association for this school year. The association was organized here last September and has met regularly every month. The subject taken up for the year's work was "Child Study." A large number of parents as well as the teachers have faithfully attended through the year and much has been accomplished. The association will resume its work in September. The student body of the Echo high school held a banquet Thursday night at the Domestic Art rooms. Boise ex perienced the most violent earthquake shock in the history or the city at 7:26 last night The tremor lasted about three seconds and was more in the nature of an upheaval than a wave. In the downtown district peo ple rushed from the buildings to the streets. The quake was the second in a fortnight, the last one having been recorded April 30. In Boise a chimney of a business block in the heart of the city was shaken down and others were dam aged, and in other buildings plaster was broken from the walls. Dishes fell from tables and plate racks, ta blet), chairs, beds and desks were moved. down this bond Issue and see how long it takes them to get swatted on their mlllage tax for the hard sur facing of the macadam road. That Is all they want, the macadam hard surfaced. If this bond Issue provided only for that they would be out howl ing their heads off for It But they are not willing that Pilot Rock, He lix. Echo, St. infield or any other sec tion of the county shall have good roads. It takes a fool to do fool things and the man who makes the assertion that only $250,000 of the bond Issue will be spent for labor Is the biggest fool of them all. the only bigger fool Is the man who believes it. Seventy five per cent of the cost of construc tion is labor. Go anywhere where they have built mads and ask them and they will tell you the same thing. The railroads will pay one-fourth of the bond issue and they are the on ly people who will he injured. Are they out fighting It? Maybe that is where the opposition is getting their money for the campaign. A hard surfaced road from Pendle ton lo I'matllla will reduce freight rates sufficient to pay the imprest on the bonds. What better Investment Could you ask. The Warren Contraction Company is not an Issue In this campaign but the opposition would like you to be lieve that they are already sharpen ing their tools for the work The contract has not been let and there may never be a contract let The Warns Construction Company hai Hied a written agreement with the county court offering to Install the Plants, furnish a competent engineer, supervise the work, furnish the tool and furnish all the hot stuff, called bitumen necessary for paving lha road for the sum of 55 cents a square vard, and this Includes the royalty. No the county court may decide to accept this offer and do their own Paving, or they may decide to let tho contract to some other firm. The Warren Construction Company stands no better show of getting the contract than any other road building firm. Whoop 'er up for the bonds. Cities and towns In I'matilla county will have to pay for this bond Issue just as much and probably more, pro portionately, than does the farming section. The opposition' is peddling false statements that the cities and loans will not have to pay anything. Nobody but a fool would make this statement. The tax levied to provide for the bonds applies to every dol lar's worth of taxable property In the county. Why should Jhe voters of I'matilla county listen to the wall of Barrett, Harrah. et al? When your finger Is cut off you don't take caster oil, do you ? r Hurrah; H oora h ! Now, what are these farmers going to do with this labor question and the walking dele gate? Lost election they came ar ound to every one and pleaded with the voters to kill the eight hour' law and the things they said about the promoters of the scheme, the labor agitators and the Portland labor council couldn't huve been any less than Hurrah says he thinks about the people who are conducting the cam paign for gooil roads. Hut now they go and bring one of those very self same labor agitators up here and fete him and pat him on the hack and haul him around over the county and pay him for telling the voters of I'matilla county how to vote on this bond issue. This same man will come right back at them in harvest season and demand that they honor the eight hour day. that they put on two or three shifts .if hands during har vest, and by ginger he should. When they think they can play fast and loose with the voters of I'matilla county in this manner they are en- j titled to be left to themselves and work out their own salvation In the I other Instance. But they can't save Ihemselves In such a crisis. They ' must come begging and pleading to , the cities and towns to save them , from the grasp and graft of labor agitators and walking delegates. It Is an Insult to the Intelligence of the voters of I'matilla county for them to parade this soap box orator and lnbnr agitator before the people as a man who is qualified to tell the vot i era of Umatilla county what they should do.'
