Maroney, aviator, desires r the f rller days of the automobile Industry, wealth and social position traveled almost exclusively in the car which bore a foreign maker's name. But times have changed standards of value have changed personal view points have changed. People of wealth and social position still insist upon luxury and elegance in their motor cars. But, now, they also demand at least a fair return upon their motor car investment. It is for this reason that the Paige, Fairfield "Stx46" hat been so universally adopted by well-to-do people In all sections of the nation. In beauty of line and design, this car rivals the most artistic productions of Europe. It is refreshingly dis tinctive, and embodies every convenience and luxury that a critical motorist could desire. It is a big car, a powerful car, a comfortable car and, withal, an economical car. It is literally and actually "the standard of Value and Quality." The price complete is $1295. t Paige-Detroit Motor Car Company Detroit. Michigan Robbins 6 West Auto Co. Get It today. to come to Pendleton for a spectacular flight some time during. the summer and outlines his offer In the following letter to this newspaper: Seattle, Wash., May 4-l Editor East Oregonian, Pendleton, Oregon. Dear Sir: No doubt there will be some celebrations In your city this summer and the committees In charge will want attractions that will attract the people from the surrounding country. , I dare say there has been few Issues of your paper within the last year or more that has not had some kind of a story about the war, either in Eu rope or Mexico, and some comments about battles in the an-. People like to read about these things because they are really happening In the war zone and something they have never seen. After reading so -much about such things it creates a desire to see. We want to come to your city one or more days this summer and show you people how easy n would be for a fleet of just a few aeroplanes to fly over your city or country, pick out any business block, factory or ranch house and completely destroy it. For such work we use imitation bombs. To demonstrate oar accuracy in dropping bombs we nave a large bat tleship painted on canvas which we place in some suitable spot, usually in front of the grandstand: the bomb is dropped from the aeroplane and strikes close to the snip and with the aid of an electric spark, a little gaso line, an explosion takes place that blows the ship to pieces and actually burns It up in front or everyones" eyes, just as we read about it. We also race automobiles with the aeroplanes, carry passengers and do some fancy flying, but our sensational stunt is looping the loop, dropping girl with parachute from the aeroplane while the machine Is several thousand feet in the air and tnen looping the loop around her as she floats back to earth. This la without a doubt the most daring and hazardous feat ever accomplished in the air In the way of exhibition work. Our guarantee is that we do every thing we agree to do or no money, no money asked In aovance. We will appreciate your favor very much if you will be kind enough to send us the names of any association committees or chalrrrsn that might be interested in our class of education. thrilling sensations and amusements. Respectfully yours, TERAH T. MAROXET. Box 66. Seattle, Wash. There are more Eight-Cylinder Cad illac in service than any other model of high-grade car in the world. With the Eight-Cylinder Cadillac bad roads lose their terror and hills seem almost to flatten out before you, so easily, so quietly and with so little apparent effort does the car surmount them. The necessity for shifting gears in the Eight-Cylinder Cadillac occurs so seldom that you may sometimes won der why a gear shift is provided. $2250 F. O. B. PENDLETON Cars now here at MCLEAN AUTO CO. Fake Reformers Scored. CHICAGO, May 2- "Quack reform ers and half-baked people, aided and abetted by Indifferent manufactures, are responsible for present unsettled conditions of the country," said Per cy Andrea, president or the National Association of Foreign Language newspapers at a luncneon of the Illi nois Manufacturers' Association in the Hotel La Salle. Is the purpose or the committee to organize subcommittees in each senatorial district for participation In elections and to indorse and work for candidates acceptable to the locality as men of ability. Amusements What the press agents say about Pendleton's pres ent and coming attractions. "Mlstdng Link" Surely Exists. Col. Pierson was in charge of the Robinson expedition to euatorial Af rica, and he relates the following In the fur depth of the euatorial forests they were very much aston ished on several occasions to hear voices, apparently of men, conversing in outlandish gibberish. Whatever jt was. it kept out of sight, disappear ing Into the jungle at their approach. One day. however, they dashed ahead and came upon a tribe of giant apes, which immediately took to the tree tops with the most Incredible speed and agility. From their loft) perches they broke off limbs and hurled them at the invaders with dan gerous force and accuracy, all the time "talking" to ench other in a strange, hoarse voice, sounding for all the world like a man with a bad cold. Efforts were made to capture some specimens, but they were too cunning and wary for the most Ingenious traps and baits. Their senses were so acute that they would not approach within many yards of any object that had ever been touched by human hands. Col, Pierson shot two or three, which he has had stuffed and placed on exhibition. He is firmly convinc ed that this Is the much sought-for missing link that connects man with the monkey. Robinson's Famous Shows will ex hibit many specimens of strange and rare beasts when they exhibit here on June 14. ljifurer Is Coming.
