last evening the name "River Drive"
was officially adopted by ordinance
for the highway leading along the
river and Walter's millrace from Main
street to Hush.

A wheel came off the HeiumcWarn

ery office but no damage was done to

The estate of Frank Pandrow has

Invited to State Conference.
The city council has been invited
and urged to send representatives to
the coming state taxpayers' conference
in Portland which, the letter states
will be the most Important taxation
conference ever held in the state.
Gus Gets Run Back.
Gus Bertholet is happy again. Aft
er being taken off his old Pendleton
Pasco run for a couple of weeks, he
has secured it back tnrough a change
in arrangement on the Pasco-Dayton
run. and will now have it permanent
ly.
Takes Martin to Pen.
Sheriff T. D. Taylor left today noon
for Salem with W. J. Martin, who
w ai recently convicted of a statutory
charge and sentenced to the peniten
tiary from one to ten years

The will of the lute Michel Estoup
of Freewater was admitted to probate i
today. The estate Is valued approxl-1
ruatety at JiTOO and, with the ex
ception of five dollars each to his five
children, deceased left all to his wife,
Nancy Estoup, and named her executor.

Vic Berger, one of the best known
heavyweight fighters of the north
west, is . here today, having stopped
off while en route from the east. He
is looking for a bout. Berger used to
live in Spokane and is a veteran of
84 fights, 72 of which he won by the
knockout route. He has fought Jack
Johnson in a handicap bout and has
victories over Gunboat Smith and
other weli known heavyweights.
To Taxpayers' Meeting.
At the meeting of the Umatilla
County Taxpayers' association yester
day in addition to passing resolutions
bearing on the road bond issue and
the O. & C. land grant the meeting
named A. R. Shumway and C. P.
Strain as delegates to the state con
vention of taxpayers to be held in
Portland Saturday Manuel Friedly
was named as an alternate Mr.
Strain is preparing to attend the meet
ing and it Is believed Mr. Shumwoy
will also go.
