Berger used to live in Spokane and is a veteran of 84 fights, 72 of which he won by the knockout route. He has fought Jack Johnson in a handicap bout and has victories over Gunboat Smith and other weli known heavyweights. To Taxpayers' Meeting. At the meeting of the Umatilla County Taxpayers' association yester day in addition to passing resolutions bearing on the road bond issue and the O. & C. land grant the meeting named A. R. Shumway and C. P. Strain as delegates to the state con vention of taxpayers to be held in Portland Saturday Manuel Friedly was named as an alternate Mr. Strain is preparing to attend the meet ing and it Is believed Mr. Shumwoy will also go.
