program of action to stop the Influx
t Mexicans into Los Angeles county
aad to obtain the aid of the federal
government in deporting such unde
sirables as may be found in the Mexi
can population of "about 75,000 waa
instituted today by the board of su
pervisors. Reports were made to the board
that near !000 Mexicans were de
gendent on the county aid and many
were afflicted with diseases and that

"frightful."

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore., April 10.
Miss Catherine Prehm, editor of the
Merrill Record, who was arrested here
after attempting to horsewhop George
E. Bradnack. editor of the Merrill
Times, was fined 86 by Police Judge
Leavltt, for disturbing the peace. The
charge was preferred by Patrolman
McCarter, who made the arrest, and
Mr. Bradnack was subpoenaed as a
witness.
The trouble arose over a denial of
some news published by Miss Prehm's
paper by her competitor.
