Nearly thirteen thousand ministers
and priests are today- serving in vari
ous capacities with the French army,
according to statistics just given out
by the minister of war. The govern
ment itself has assigned as chaplains
with regiments 151 Catholic priests,
28 protestant ministers, and 13 rabbis.
There is about an equal number of
t chaplains who have volunteered their
services and been allowed to go with
the troops. Most of the ecclesiastics
are serving as nurses. Their total
numbers 12.580.
