He ran from ward to ward with the story It was a slick trick had It ended there. Infortunately when the polls closed, the saloons opened, and whisky began to flow, the situ ation got beyond Control, and now Best and his cohorts are howling "Bvana," and defaming the Mont gomery supporters. Joe Cannon, veteran ex-speaker, doeos not seem to be one of the crowd. "I didn't vote for Mr. Wilson in 1912," he remarks, "and I won't vote for him in 1916. but I will not criticise his at titude in the European matter. It is not a time for partisan ship." His views reflect a trait of Americanism that is timely. There are some things in this country that should be above politics. Besides it is going to be bad politics to oppose the preparedness plans if those plans are drafted with sanity jnd moderation as they will be. NEW DYESTUFF DUSTRY in the ends of Justice?
