Shoe maker has declared war on the (V W" R. & N. train crews who have been making a practice of shooting geese in the near vicinity of Arling ton, says the Portland Telegram. This morning he directed a letter to the O.-W. R. & N. officials appris ing them of particulars in several cases of this sort, and asking their co-operation to see that the practice is stopped Last Thursday morning a special depty warden, situated on a bluft overlooking the track one mile thit side of Arlington saw a freight train stop. One of the men climbed down and killed three geese The deputy was too far away to Identify the shooter. Provisions have been made to have three or four special depu ties stationed in this vicinity, wherj the track runs close to the Colum bia river. There is a section of the state, game and fish code which absolutely prohibits the shooting of geese east of the junction of the Hood River with the Columbia within a distance of one-quarter mile of the high wa ter mark.
