ATHENS, Oct. 14. Although Serbian reports claimed the
Bulgarian invasion is repulsed, Nish advices admit prepara
tions are being made to defend the city. In a terrible battle at
Ripa, near Semendria, the Austro-Germans are admittedly vic
tors but at tragic cost, for the battlefield is strewn with cada
vers and the Teutons have since been unable to renew the ad
vance because of enormous losses, it is claimed officially.

BUCHAREST, Oct. 14. Bulgarian cavalry and Austro
German troops are concentrated at Viding on the Bulgarian
bank of the Danube, opposite Rumania, apparently ready for
either offensive or defensive fighting against Rumania, and
possibly to meet Russians reported crossing Rumania to aid
Serbia.

destructive Zeppelin raid of the war
over London the Germans lust night
