through his attorney, B. L. Ballard,

place, Mr. Jonas having

Wilbur Bradley, one of the local
high achool boys is suffering from a
lame hand. Toung Badley was work
ing in the manual training depart
ment yesterday when he ran a large
splinter of wood forcibly into his
hand which he had to have cut out
by a physician, inflicting a severe
wound.

W. A. Ford, who has been teach

He states that there is a probability
that two more teachers will be added

Suit to Knforce Contract.
To force M. J. Morris and J. A
Jullen to fulfill the terms of a con
tract entered into with him for a

day filed suit against them. Morris
and Jullen were to transfer a con
tract to purchase 2080 acres In the
west end of the county, according
to the terms of the contract, the land
having previously been contracted
for by Thomas V. Hardin from W. J

valued at $42,000, was admitted to
probate In the local county court this
morning. It had previously been pro
bated in the Walla Walla superior
court. Mrs. Margaret Wlnshlp of
Athena, a daughter of the deceased,
Is named administrator for the estate

Cut Worm Cutting Up.
Farmers living west of Birch creek
are encountering a new enemy In the
form of a cut worm which la working
In the wheat. The first report of the
depredations by the pest was brought
to the city this forenoon by Charles
Olcott who brouRht a number of the
worms with him and shipped them to
A. B. Cordloy, director of the experi
ment station at Corvallls who Is ask
ed to advise ubout what to do to es
cape the evil. According to Mr. Ol
cott he found the. cut worms working
on the edge of his place. On the
James Eldrldge placa the worms have
taken 35 acres and Mr. Eldrldge is
planning to resecd. The cut worm
Is dark green In color and is from
two to three inches long.
The operation was a very severe one
