After meeting with growers and
business men of the Mllton-Freewater
district Friday afternoon regarding
the fire blight situation County Judge
J W. Maloney authorized . District
Fruit Inspector S. J. Campbell to se
cure the services of four assistants and
start a fight on the tree disease. The
county will stand the expense of the
fight.
It is the plan to carry on the battle
against the fire blight along educa
tional lines. Inspector Campbell and
his assistants will go to the different
orchards, where the blight exists and
will show the growers how to care
for the treesl If, after a reasonable
length of time, the blight has not
been cared for, the inspector will solve

Kent. Marion, his daughter, Dorothy
Kelly. Mrs. Marbury, his wife, Louise
Beandet.
Part 1. Ralph, the son of Andrew
Mason, the famous capitalist, falls in
love with Marlon Marbury and pro
poses to her. Mrs. Marbury is de
lighted. Thinking that Ralph's father
will consent to help her husband out
of his financial difficulties, which
threaten Marbury with bankruptcy,
Ralph introduces Marlon to his father.
Mason the elder becomes Infatuated
with the young woman and want3 her
for himself, and he intends to have
her. The fact that Mason has fallen
in love with her daughter is soon dis
covered by Mrs. Marbury, who dis
cusses the matter with him and agrees
to help him. Knowing that he is the
man with the money and seeing in the
match an immediate way to retrieve
her husband's fallen fortune.
Part 2. It is proposed to build a
new railroad in Africa and Ralph is
sent to take charge of the work. As
soon as his son is out of the way Ma
son commences to press his suit to
Marion, who cannot understand him.
Her mother makes it clear to her that
Mason wants her for his wife and tells
her that this is the chance for her to
save her father from ruin. Three
months after Ralph departs she is
married to Ralps father. In Africa
Ralph has full scope for his genius
and rushes ahead with the railroad.
During a hunting trip he is pounced
upon by a Hon and severe h wounded
but is nursed back to health by a na
tive. Part 3. Ralph In Africa becomes
convalescent from his Injuries, so he
desldes to return home and surprise
the folks. Reaching New York, he
dashes to his father's house and bursts
in upon him. The father tells him of
his marriage and a violent quarrel
follows, the son denouncing his father
and angrily leaving the house. Up
stairs Marlon is lying on a bed ,of
jain, as an heir is about to be brought
Into the world. As Mason sits brood
ing the doctor enters and tells him his
hopes are blighted, mother and child
are both dead. When Mrs. Marbury
descends a while later, she finds An
drew Mason a corpse in his chair. She
alone is left to suffer the consequences
of Her own selfishness.
