NOTICE OF STREET IMPROVEMENT.
Notice Is hereby given that at a regular
ineetlug of the Common Council of The
Clly of Pendleton held ou April i'th, 1013,
the following resolutions were udopted :
Whereas, the Surveyor of The City of
Tendleton did on the Dili day of April, 11)13,
under direction and by requirement of the
Common Council file plans and specifica
tions for an appropriate Improvement of
Haley Street. In The City of Pendleton
from the West line of Rush Street to the
West line of Short Street, together with
the estimates of the work to be done and
the probable cost thereof, with a statement
of the lots, parts of lots and parcels of
land to be benefited by such Improvement,
and the percentage of the total cost of
Improvement which each of such lots, parts
of lots and parcels of land should pay on
account of the benefits to be derived from
such improvement ; and
Whereas, the Council has examined such
plans and specification and found the
same satisfactory and the estimates there
for to be In accordance with tbe probable
cost of such work ; and
Whereas, the properey recommended by
the City Surveyor to be Included within
the boundaries of the district benefited Is,
Id the Judgment of the Common Council
properly to be Included within such Im
provement district, nnd no property Is ex
cluded therefrom which should properly be
Included therein ; and
Whereas, the Improvement of the here
inabove described portion of said Haley
Street, with Gravel llitullthlc pavement Is

City of Pendleton that It Is expedient to
Improve, and It Is hereby proposed to Im
prove Raley Street from tho West line of
Rush Street to the West line of Short
Street by paving the same with Gravel

curbs, gutters and all other things, and to

Gladys Scroggs, teacher of music In
the Hermlston and Stanfield schools,
gave a recital at the Baptist church
and was assisted by Mr. Carruth, vi
olinist, and Miss Brant, read;r, both
of Stanfield.
L'nder the Western Land & Irriga
tion ditch west of the river is a tract
of 120 acres all to alfalfa and owned
by Chicago men who have been here
and made arrangements to turn this
tract into a dairy ranch of perhaps
Kio or more cows. The lease is a
lung one and this addition to the sup
ply of cream for the local creamery
means more than the figures indi
cate. I. L. Van Winkle has pitched a sub
stantial tent on the west side of town
In which he will do all kinds of pho
tograph work.
