Hcrmiston, Ore., Dec. 21. In leav
ing Hermiston foe the School teach
ers' examinations, four teachers dared
those not having to attend the exam
inations to entertain the young 'men
of Hcrmiston in their absence. The
dare was called and was planned as
a party at the residence of J. D. Wat
son. However, as plans materialised,
it became evident that a large crowd
would be present so Bland's hall was
engaged and a very enjoyable even
ing was spent in dancing and games.
About midight a luncheon was serv
ed which would do any young ladies
credit. The teachers absent were the
Miss.es Beulah Reid, Alma M. Win
gate and Miss McDonald, and they
will return this evening to hear of
the party. The entertainers were Miss
Ina Wattenberger and Miss Beatrice
Reid.
Miss Lillian Littler will return this
evening after attending the Pendle
ton teachers' examination for the
week.
Otto G. Sapper will leave for Uma
tilla tonight on business.
Miss Brownell was in Hermiston
yesterday visiting friends.
W. B. Finley of Heppner Is in town
on business.
Miss Alma M. Wlngate will leave
Saturday morning for Seattlt to spend
the holidays with her parents.
