CO-
LOSES PIECE OF
EAR IN A FIGHT
The four corner of the earth are
represented In a case now in the
hands of the district attorney, the re.
suit of a section crew altercation last
night at Huron in which one of the
combatants had a piece .bitten out of
one ear, his cheek and neck lacer
ated and several other parts of his an
atomy chewed.
Representing the far north Is Fred
Johnson, an Alaskan Indian and the
victim of the offending teeth. Tho
far east has as lt delegate Max, a
Filipino, whose sharp molars Inflict
ed the wounds on thr Alaskan. John
Arando, a native of Chill and James
J Tedelox, a Spaniard ty blood and
birth are the representatives of the
far south and tho far west and in the
present case occupy thil position of
chief witnesses
According to the story told by the
latter two, the four men from the
four corners of the earth have com
prised the Huron section crew for a
short time. lA.it night they nay,
Max and Johnson became Involved in
a dispute which waa abruptly ended
by the former dashing a, cup of hot
coffee In the face of the latter. As
might be expected the Alaskan re
sented this treatment and a fight was
the result. The Filipino's methods of
warfare showed that he is not far re
moved from those ancestors who
liked to diet on human 'flesh for he
promptly seized one of the redskin's
ears r-ewcen his teeth and hit a some
what lagged edged crescent in it. He
then attacked his adversary's cheek
and neck with hi sharp Incisors and
finally, as a grand finale, bit through
three thicknesses of doth and sunk
his teeth into the northerner's arm.
The cannabalistl. taUs nf the south
sea islander were too much for the
Indian and hp was gtnd to admit de
feat. When the battle w;w over, the gen.
tloman from Chill mercifully located
the piece of car whleh haa been bit
ten out and aided by needle, thread
and court plaster, fixed It bask In
place. The Spaniard, Afnsknn and
Chilean then enmo to the city and
swore out a warrant for the arrest
of their earnlvernus fellow section
hand.
