Friday and Saturday. King RaggoU
and Jan Fernley in the strong politi
cal drama in two reels:
"John Sterling, Alderman." Imp.
This exciting picture gives us a truth
ful and vivid insight into the prac
tices of franchise grabbing corpora
tions. A very dramatic situation de
velops when John Sterling, who has
worked hlmselef up from the very
lowest rungs of the ladder, shows as
alderman n disposition to give the
people a siuure deul. For when the
franchise grabbers find that he. and
ho alone ,1s blocking their scheme,
they try to bribe him and falling in
this, they resort to underhand treks
to ruin him. The struggle Is tense; it
most decidedly keeps us in suspensee;
but works out to a very pleasing dee
noument. Miss Fernley as the alder
mans wife and little Edith Halllhan
as their child gives the production a
most engaging atmosphere of homo
life, for It Is their encouragement that
gives him the moral strength to fight
It out to victory. We can commend
ths as a splendid production.
"His Only Son." Nestor. A genu
inely interesetelng drama of the west,
commendable for the naturulneses of
its story and for som novel touches
of humor. The principal roles, those
of father and son, are vigorously han
dled from the time of their dispute
until the end when they ure recon
ciled through some exciting' experi
ences with a band of outlaws.
"The Lucky Looser." Eclair Am
ereicn. The girl promised that the
one of her lovers who won a' certain
race would win a wife. The lucky
loser, losing the race through the foul
play of his rivals, nevertheless wins
tho girl. Its speedy and the end is
both unevpeceted and funny. Some
