Coining; to the Hound-up.
Ceco Bulllvant, physical director
of the Spokane athletic club and wife
are to be here for the Round-up, hav
ing wired today to Dudley Evans for
reservations. The vice president of
the Spokane club Is also accompanied
by his wife.
Three Are Sentenced.
Chares Modrell, cattle thief, and
Tom Williams, who stole a team of
mules from George Xess, were this
morning given an Indeterminate sen
tence In the penitentiary of from one
to ten years. Fred Fisk. convicted
of passing worthless checks, receiv
ed a sentence ranging from one to
five years.
Tvvoliy Baby Is Dead.
Mrs. James A. Cooper has received
a letter announcing the sudden death
of Virginia, the two year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Twohy in
San Jose, California. The child had
evidently become poisoned by tainted
milk on the train while en route to
San Jose and died soon after arrival.
Mrs. Twohy was formerly Miss Gene
vieve Fish of this city.
Masonic Hall Rest Room.
Beginning Monday the Masonic Hall
at the corner of Main and Webb
streets will be thrown open to the use
of the public as a rest room and will
be devoted to that purpose during the
entire week of the fair and Round-up.
All visitors within the city are invit
ed to make use of the rooms regard
less of whether or not they hold mem
bership In the Masonic order.

Clydesdale horses on exhibition at the
district fair. They are fine animals
and first prize winners at the state
fair. They were raised from stock
imported from Europe by Mr. Gordon
himself.
Yilsii-Marstinll Club Itolls.
It is announced by the organization
committee of the Wilson-Marshall
club that the rolls for the club are
now ready and may be signed by call
ing at the office of the secretary.
James Johns, Jr., in the Hartman Ab
stract company's office; at the office
of Judge J. W. Maloney or at the of
fice of Will Moore. All supporters of
Wilson and Marshall, without refer
ence to party affiliations, are invited
to unite with the club by signing the
roll.

C. K. Cranston of the First. Nation
al bank, and Richard Mayberry of
the American National, have been re
tained by the city water commission
to Inspect the books of the city water
superintendent's office over which H.
K. Laatz presides. It is reported that
accusations of negligence have been
made against the superintendent. Be
yond admitting that an Investigation
had been contemplated for some time
past and is now being made, J. T.
Brown, chairman of the water com
mission, declined to talk upon the
subject today.

J. McCully, a local barber, hud a
fighting bee in his bonnet last night
and It cost hlrn twenty dollars to get
It out. Early In the evening he pick
ed a quarrel with Clyde Hubbard and
after an exchange of fisticuffs, the
latter offered him ten dollars to de
sist. McCully agreed whereupon
Hubbard slipped him a coin which
was found to be a quarter Instead of
an eagle when taken Into the light.
Fooled, the belligerent barber set out
In pursuit of Hubbard and started in
to beat him up but did not do much
damage before he was In the hands
of the officers. Putting up J 10 cash
ball, he secured his release and was
soon mixed up In an altercation with
Jack Sullivan. Both men were arrest
ed and each put up another $10.

is coming back this year to compete
for the championship. His nephew,
Charley White, who is a cousin of
Joe Craig, arrived today and formally
entered him in the contest. By many
