tified Mrs. Turner nnd the jewels will
be sent to Kentucky. She left the
Jewels in a dressing room in one of
the buildings ut the world's fair.

Lieutenant von Cerno, belonging to

were both condemned to three years'

Baron Vlnogradoff will be con
fined In a fortress, but von Cerno
will serve his term In an ordinary
penitentiary.
The espionage of which they were
convicted was connected with naval
matters. Baron Vlnogradoff was de
tailed to fupervlse the operations of
von Cerno.

Seattle. G. A. Bergman, who ped
dled elk teeth in the downtown dis
trict guaranteeing their genuineness,
was arrested by the county game
warden. He explained to the war
den that the teeth were porcelain,
whereupon he was held for selling
goods under false pretenses and is in
as serious a plight as before.

The bearlshness In the hog market
at points east of the Rockies Is fast
disappearing, leaving In its place a
tone of restfulness which would
bring forth a better range.
There was only a small offering of
hogs at North Portland today and
some of these came direct to a local
meat company. The market for hogs
here is still out of line with the price
ot provisions.
Run at North Portland for the day
was 100 head, compared with 290 last
Wednesday.

The closing was 1 to 5-Sc a bushel
higher than Tuesday's final figures.
Opening was unchanged at 3-8c
higher.
There was a weaker tone nnd lower
price abroad due to the favorable
weather In Argentina and the improv
ed strike situation. The trade at home
paid no attention to outside conditl
ons. Covering begun shortly after the
opening.
