The Lamp That
Saves The Eyes
Children naturally never think of
possible strain on their eyesight when
poring over a fascinating book.
It is up to you to see they do not ruin
their young eyes these long evenings
by reading under a poor light.
The Rayo Lamp is an insurance
against eye troubles, alike for young
i i
and old.
The Rayo is a low-priced lamp, but it is constructed on the soundest
scientific principles, and there is not a better lamp made at any price.
It is easy on the eye because its light is so soft and white and
widely diffused. And a Rayo Lamp never flickers.
Easily lighted without removing shade or chimney; easy to clean and rewkl.
Solid brass throughout, with handsome nickel finish ; also in many other style and finishes.

Livestock prices were higher for
the flay with buying of much better
character and with killers forced to
bid against one another for the first
time In many days.
The trading; wag conspicuous for
the reason that It was the first day
for a week that there were any sheep
offered for sale at North Portland.
Naturally this brought forth all the
buyers In that line and competitive
bids are as a rule higher.
Lambs sold this morning at $5.50
weighed off ears which really means
$5.35 on the fill. Even this Is an ad
vance of 25c over the previous high
mark.
Sales of wethers were made during
the morning at $4.50. Two lots were
moved at this figure, one being weigh
ed off cars and the other was sold on
the fill.
An advance of 25c was forced In the
price of best ewes when one lot was
sold this morning at $3.75 compared

Mrs. Martin Tells About a Painful
Experience that Might Have
Ended Seriously.
RIvesvllle, "W. Vs. Mrs. Dora Martin,
in a letter from RIvesvllle, writes :
Tor three years, I suffered with wo
manly troubles, and had pains In my
back and side. I was nervous and
could not sleep at night ,
The doctor could not help me. He
said I would have to be operated on be
fore I could get better. I thought I
would try using CarduL
Now, I am entirely well.
I am sure Cardul saved my life. I
will never be without Cardul in my
home. I recommend It to my friends."

lieving pain and distress caused by wo
manly trouble. It will surely help you.

with J3.50 as the previous best price.
Ilivelpw Too Small.
There was a fair showing In the
mutton dlvlHlon so far as receipts for
the day were concerned, but the total
offerings of 475 head were scarcely
sufficient to fill the wants of one kill
er, not alone supplying the entire
trade.
Cattle Market Nickel Hixlier.
A further advance of 5c was forced
in the cattle division of the North
Portland market today. There were
arrivals of 185 sheep during the day
compared with 106 last Friday.
Top steers sold at $6.15 this morn
ing, one lot being weighed off cars at
this price, while another was sold
regularly. The market for cattle is In
an extremely critical condition so far
as killers are concerned. Writh the
former huge surplus entirely worked
off and with their coolers well sold
out, butchers have been forced to
meet the shippers and pay the advance
afked.
The fact that competitive markets
for cattle have recently shown a lib
eral advance, means that killers of
this section need quote a still higher
price before they will be able to di
vert cattle in this direction.
Hog Market Stationary.
While there was a small offering
of hogs in the local yards during the
day, the market did not reflect im
provement. Only one sale was re
ported this morning, this being at
$6.45.
There was a weaker tone in the hog
trade in the east today, but top
limits are unchanged. Therefore it is
still costing Pacific northwest kill
er? $7.25 to land Nebraska swine in
their pens.
Top price at South Omaha today
was $6.15 with a run of 8500 head.
