"The Village Hero," Blograph.
There is a call for volunteers for the
village militia, while the young folks
are assembled on the village green
Eugene, the village masher, is first to
respond, much to the admiration of all
the village belles, including Max's
sweetheart, who would like to see
Max imbued with the same spirit. The
hfro business is not in his particular
line, but he enliHts because his sweet
heart insists. He Is tried out as
bugler with . laughable results, am
when the battle starts he "beats it'
and hides. When tired and hungry
he enters a home which has Just been
attacked by revolutionists. They
think a whole regiment back of him
and flee. That many times circum
stances favor a hero will occur to
the ones who see this picture.
"The Match Maker," Lubin. The
match maker in this picture Is a young
English aristocrat with a sense of hu
mor. Love moves in cross-cross lines
and no one can tell at the beginning
or in the middle who is going to mar
ry whom. ' This story is fresh and
amusing. It Is perfectly produced and
makes a delightfully human picture
full of humor. This comedy is good,
it ought to have a star pasted after it
to mark it out.
"Kit Carson's Wooing," Sellg. Of
all the picturesque stories surround
ing the lives of our early frontiers
men, none stands out more promi
nently than that of Kit Carson's ro
mantic marriage to the half breed In
dian girl who had saved his life. This
incident Is used as the theme on
which this story is based. Pictured in
that wonderland of beauty "The Yos-
emlte Valley" this subject is out the
usual run.
"The Minute Man," Edison.. A
story of the battle of I.-lnrtp, por
traying the pr'neipal Incidents in
the history of our country, beginning
with the fight for freedom from the
yoke of English rule. The scene
were actually taken on the historic
grounds. The house stood and still
