(From Wednesday's Journal.)
There was a generally steady tone
In the livestock trade at North Port
land toduy. The lowest price recent

position where packers can take hold
even though . their present require

While there was a deul In 20 head

There was Quite a fair run of cat
tle in the yards today. A total of
4 37 head appeared, 10 loads of these
being from llolton, Wash., being sent
forward by one shipper.
Pucker Well Supplitl.
There is no denying the fact that
packers are well supplied with cattle
at this time, steers In their feed lots
predominating. While there has been
an extreme shortage in the offerings
of cows up to the past few days,
rather liberal lots have come forward
during that period and the trade's
wants have been more 'thoroughly
taken care of. The demand continues
best for cows and bulls, and these are
bringing better prices proportionally
than for steers.
One of the leading commission mer
chants today denied the statement
that a large per cent of the cattle ar
rivals from Montana were of the feed
er class. He says that the offerings
as a rule are about as good as any
thing that has come forward from
the local territory recently.
At South Omaha today there was
a stronger tone In the cattle trade
with prices 5 to 10 cents higher. Top
steers were quoted at $7.76 and best
cows and heifers at $5.80.
At Chicago the cattle market was
weaker and prices lost the amount of
the gain at South Omaha.

A WORD TO CITY'S
No greater test has come to a city
than that that confronted Pendleton
during the "Round-Up." The words
of commendation in the press of the
Northwest were well deserved by the
people of Pendleton. Think of a city
of five thousand caring so well for
twice that number of visitors. The
people of Pendleton, standing back of
the Accommodation Committee made
that splendid showing.
It was not a money-making scheme
in the least, the recompense being
out of proportion to the trouble and
inconvenience incurred. Pride of city
earnest desire to overcome every ob
stacle, no matter how stupendous,
contributed to make the finest show
ing ever made under lige circum
stances. The Accommodation Committee
wishes to extend its sincere thanks
and gratitude for the co-operation so
ably and willingly given to It by the
people of Pendleton. Mere words are
hardly sufficient to convey the deep
sense of obligation that the Commit
tee owes to the openhearted, patri
otic citizenship of Pendleton.
No one thing will contribute to the
success of the splendid exhibition as
will the feeling that Pendleton can
rise to the occasion. The general and
widespread content and satisfaction
that pervaded the immense number
of visitors insures the future success.
To every person in Pendleton who
assisted us directly or indirectly we
offer our deepest thanks.

"Continent-wide attention has

been practical lessons for growers and
prospective settlers In the fruit belts,
undisputable proof of the fortunes

What Klassts "re to weak eyes; Car-

ctut 1kx will truly amaze you.
Most old people must give to the
bowels some regular help, else they
suffer from constipation. The condi
tion is perfectly natural. It Is just
as natural as It is for old people to
walk slowly. For acre Is never so
nctlve as youth. The muscles are
less elastic. And the bowels are
muscles.
So all old people need Cascarets.
One might as well refuse to aid weak
eyes with glasses as to neglect this
gentle aid to weak -bowls. The
bowels must be kept active. This is
Important at all ages, but never so
much as nt fifty.
Age is not a time for harsh physics.
Youth may occasionally whip the
bowels into activity. Hut a lash can't
be used every day. What the bowels
of the old need is a gentle and na
tural tonic. One that can be con
stantly used without harm. The only
such tonic Is Cascarets and they cost
only 10 cents per box at any drug
store. They work while you sleep.
