Sliecp and Luinb VariableWheat Expediences Slight Advance. (From Tuesduy's Journal.) Feed cattle are In heavy demand and there Is little to offer. There fore the price for stockers la better at this time, compared with finished stuff, than during any other time In the history of the livestock trade. Good stock steers will find a wel come at North Portland at $4.75, and cows will bring about $3.25. Accord ing to livestock commission mer chants they have quite a number of orders for stockers on hand, which they are unable to fill at the moment. The Bcarcity of stockers Indicates the small supply of feeder stuff in the country and fully confirms the recent reports in the Journal to the effect that cattle supplies at Pacific northwest points are dwindling fast. Heal good cattle are in demand at the higher pice quoted, but owing to the wide range of quality, there Is naturally a wide spread In tho quo tations. There was a weak tone In tho cat tle trade at Chicago today, but prices were unchanged. "Even this la 5s above the price that Missouri river hogs can be lond ed In this market. . The -teamer Tillamook came direct from the Cheese city to the stockyard and unloaded 92 head of hogs. There were quite fair offerings of swlhe In the yards during the day, a total of 398 head being received. With the exception of the lot that came from Tillamook, supplies were entirely from California. As a general rule tho hog market was steady today at the drop of a dime quoted by The Journal yester day. At Chicago the hog trade was steady with tops at $7.60. South Omaha jvas 5c to 10c lower for swine with tops at $7.10. This means $7.20 to land at Pacific north west packing centers. Hog shippers today: W. T. All sorts of prices are showing in the sheep and lamb trade at North Portland. While average quotations do not sompare with one recently ob tained, this Is due to the poor quality of the offerings. Sales of selected yearling wethers were made up to $3.65, although one lot went at $3 and some old wethers sold at the same figure. Receipts of the day were light, but most packers have already secured the'r requirements for the immediate future. .Sheep shippers today: W. I. Dish man, Enterpise, Ore., one load. Making a bet with a number of acquaintances that he could Jump into a water though with his clothes on and not get them wet, John Miles, 30 years old, of Fourth and Oxford streets, dived head first into a trough at Third and Oxford streets and In doing so struck his head. The force of the blow stunned him and he sank below the surface of the water and after a few minutes, when he did not get out of the trough or pull his head to the top, the onlookers became alarmed and pulled him out. He was In an unconscious condition and almost drowned. Miles was rushed to the Episcopal hospital where the water was pumped out of him. It is said that he will recover. How he expected to accom plish the feat is n mystery. He would not explain to the physicians, but he was evidently satisfied with the ex periment. BENTLBY fc lFFlSoWELL. PF STARTS FIGHT IY)U HIS FItF.F.IOM ForThree Long Years. Suffered Great Deal. CuticuraSoap and Ointment brought Marvelous Results. In Few Weeks Cured Completely, "I was troubled with aene for three long years. My face was the only part atlected, but it eauscd great didhgurement, also suffering and loss of sleep. At first there appeared red, hard pimples which later contained white matter. I suffered a great deal caused by the itching. I was in a Btate of perplexity when walking the streets or any where before the public. "I used pills and other remedies but they failed com pletely. I thought of giving up when nothing would help, but something told me to try the Cuticura Soap and Oint ment. I sent for a Cuticura Booklet which I read carefully. Then I bought some Cuticura Soap and Ointment and by following the directions I was relieved in a few days. I used Cuticura Soap for washing my face, and applied the Cuticura Ointment morning and evening. This treatment brought mar velous results so I continued with it for a few weeks and was cured completely. I can truthfully say ttiat the Cuticura Remedies are not only all, but more than they claim to be." (Signed) G. Haumel, 1013 V. 20th Place, Chicago, 111., May 28, 1911.
