that It costs packers $7.40 to land

The Modern Wash-day
Time was when The Wash was a weekly
nightmare, wash-day dinner a by-word.
The New Perfection Oil Cook-stove has
changed all that. Once the wash-boiler is
on the stove, it leaves you free to attend to
the dinner or any other work.
You can move a New Perfection where you please and
light it in a moment. It requires no attention after that.
A single gallon of oil lasts all three burners seven hours or
more. No coal or wood to carry ; no fire to feed ; no soot
nor ashes. It keeps a kitchen or laundry cool and clean.
It cooks to perfection, with the least trouble and expense.

There was again a very good
amount of stuff offering In the sheep
:.nd lamb trade at North Portland.
Although offerings did not reach the
totals of the past few days, the sup
ply was more than equal to the de
mand. Total receipts In the sheep
and lamb pens were 972 head com
pared with 2713 last Thursday.
Quite a lot of Ptuff has been car
ried over In the days during the past
few days. While poor quality has
contributed mostly tothis condition,
killers are full of sheep and lambs
and therefore would ravor a restrict
ed movement at this time.
While top stuff Is still selling at
previous prices, poor quality does not
meet with favor even at the decline.
Best Iambs sold this morning at 5.35

Wlwat Crop Short,
Chicago, June 30. Secretary Smiley
of the Kansas Grain Dealers' associa
tion, reported that the prospects were
for a crop of but 55,000,000 bushels
of wheat In that state this ' season.
This compares wii.h a crop of 61,060,
ln 1910 and 85,478,000 bushels In
1909.
Such a reduction in the wheat crop
outlook had been unexpected by sell
ers, and after a lower opening the
mnrket advanced and closed at a
slight advance over yesterday.
There were general rains In the
central west and this caused the dis
position to sell at the opening.
Foreign markets were quiet.
