ams dance on Friday night was quite
a success and all enjoyed the even
ing. Mrs. E. G. Marquis visited in Pen
dleton Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Esselstyn and family
are moving to Walla Walla. Saturday
where they will make their future
home. Their many friends regret
very much to see them go.
Joe McBrlde of Walla Walla was
the guest of Mrs. T. C. Ried for a few
days this week.

Grisw'old was In Helix today. He says
that everything is lovely on his Co

Mrs. L. D. Smith, the wife of our
nestor in the city council, has return
ed from Walla Walla. Her grandson
Is out of danger now. He had an at
tack of pneumonia.
S. E. Starr, our ex-drugglst, has re
turned from southern Idaho and pic
tures out his new venture as very
hopeful in making something that
will stand by him in time of need.
"Sam," as we very familiarly call
him, was received into the Baptist j
church here last Sunday morning

Mrs. W. M. Pierce has returned
from Walla Walla where she attend
ed a very sick sister. She Is now out
of danger.
Miss Ruby Stamper, a niece of Joan
Myrick of Pendleton, visited
aunt. Addle Hermann, Sunday and
brought a birthday present, which is
due the 20th of March.
The Hotel Helix has changed hands
again, Mrs. Frank Myers having leas
ed it to an experienced hotel man,
D. E. Greene of Adams. Mr. Greene
took possession Monday.
Henry Lewis of Adams, the new
pharmacist in the Helix Drug store,
has brought his wife, three children
and household effects to Helix today
and will board at home from now on.

The people here will miss our old
hostess at the hotel not old in years
but In feeding the hungry and giving
good beds for the tired wayfaring
man or woman. She sang In our
church choir and was also a moving
spirit and hard worker In the Rebec
