Papain's Dentine I Mourned. (Special Correspondence.) Uklah, Ore., March 12. This sec tion Is now enjoying spring-like weather but there have been no chl nooks such as Tiavo visited the Pilot .Rock and Pendleton sections. There "every gust of wind seems to make the snow fly, while here It Is moving very slowly. Indeed, the thawing here this spring Is much (he same as easterners' are accustomed to every spring. Camas is a largo country and a large number of cattle and horses are wintered here every season. All kinds of livestock are In fine shape at present. What Uklnh needs most Is a first class doctor. Clarence Adams took fifty fine horses to early pasture near Pilot Rock Wednesday. Uklah has a first class creamery, doing a good business, winter and summer. The ever pleasant Harry Ileckor Is general manager, giving satisfaction to Its many patrons. The death of Mr. J. E. Despaln In Tendleton, Sunday, was sad news for the Uklah people, as ho was the real father of this town, having kept the only merchandise store at this place for sixteen years. Mr. Despaln was an honest, upright citizen whoso bus iness ability was never questioned and the many early Uklah enter prises flourished under his careful hand. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Iiwrence, after an absence of three months spent In Pendleton, Tiave returned to their home here and were received by their many friends with glad hands. A. McKenzle and daughter, Mary, were Uklah visitors Wednesday. Arthur Footer, a young stock grow r, Is 111 with blood poisoning. It Is also reported that others have kill ed 70 in this valley. This speaks well j for the bnys and Camas prairie as well as Pilot Rock sheepmen should re joice as loss of fowls and young stock by the pestiferous coyote is great every year. T. C. TAYLOR J. S. CLEANING AND PRESSING THAT'S JGHT AH Work Culled For and Delivered Promptly. gls by MrB, Katherlne Clemmons Could nearly two years ago, as secur ity for a hotel bill said to aggregate $3000. Mrs. Gould lived at the St. Regis two years. During the first part of her stay her bills were promptly paid. Sometimes the mon ey was paid over by Mrs. Gould her self and at other times by Howard Gould. Then came the litigation be tween husband and wife, which re sulted in a judgment of separation. The bills of Mrs. Gould were permit ted to lapse. Mrs. Gould has been spending tho winter at her home in Lynchburg, Va. Mr. Gould Is in Par is. All of the twenty-two trunks were extremey heavy. Hotel employes say that Mrs. Gould while at the St. Re gis, had a wealth of beautiful cos tumes and that she took none of them with her upon leaving. Therefore the supposition Is that today's successful bidders will get some lovely and cost ly clothing, if a trifle out of date. The magic name of Gould, too, was an added Incentive to bidders. At the same auction a great quan tity of other baggage was sold, ac cumulated by the Waldorf-Astoria, Astor, Aldine, Marlborough and oth er hotels. All of It was disposed of "sight unseen," and the gambling In stinct found full expression at the sale. A taxleab service has been estab lished at Wilmington, Del.
