CATTLE MARKET IS
A SHADE WEAKER
DESPITE SMALL RISE

SU-ors That Would Have Sold for

Bettor Class of Stuff Offered.
Portland, Ore., Oct. 25. A better
grade of cattle was offering In the
yards during the past 24 hours and
that accounts for the advance of lSe
In steers and 10c in cows. Steers
that averaged 1224 pounds went at
the high point, while one load of cows
that averaged 1029 pounds went at
$4.70.
Taking the cattle market as a whole
the situation is not strong but easy.
This is in line with the tone shown
throughout the country at this time,
Everywhere offerings are extra' lib
eral and this has brought prices down
correspondingly.
"The steers that sold at $5.66 In
the stockyards," says William Burke,
Jr., "were well sold at that price.
This Is about the top of the market
at this time. While some time ago
the same class of steers would have
brought $5.75, no sales could have
been made so high recently. . I would
consider the cattle market easy gen
erally."
There was only a light run of hogs
In the yards today and the situation
remains about as previously mention
ed.
No sheep arrived during the day
and the market Is qumted firm and
nominal around the figures quoted
yesterday. Lamb prices are now firm
ly established at 15.50 for best.
Scarcity of lambs Is the cause of
the sending forth of supplies of goats
to the market. One sale was made
yesterduy afternoon at 2c a pound

The Famous
The Lamp with Diffused Light
should always be used where several
people sit, because it does not strain the
eyes of those sitting far from it.
The Rayo Lamp Is constructed to give
the maximum diffused white light. Every
detail that Increases its light-giving value
has been included.
1 The Rayo is a low-priced lamp. You may
pay $5, $10 or even $20 for other lamps and get
a more expensive container but you cannot get
better light than the Rayo gives.
This season's Rayo has a new and strength
ened burner. A strong, durable shade-bolder
keeps the shade on nrm ana true, easy to seep
polished, as it is made ol solid brass, finished
In nickel.

Weakness for Cargoes Abroad Is
tho Cause,
Portland, Oct. 2S. Wheat dropped
from lc to 2c a bushel In the local
market today. Intense weakness was
Khown at the decline.
Big millers have practically with
drawn from the buying temporarily
and had no quotations to offer this
morning. Exporters cut their quota
tions on club below 80c, and while
some were offering 79c, others said
they would not pay above 78c a bush
el at this time, because of the general
weakness for cargoes abroad.
Blueatem wheat Is really being
slashed In prlre for the first time in iO
days. Today's quotations are like
club, lc to 2c a bushel below yester
day. Range for bluestem Is now 74c
to 75c and few are willing to pay
abovo the lower figure. Turkey red
Is quoted from 79c to 80c, and Red
Russian from 76c to 77c, generally
the latter. There is no movement
at all Just now on Willamette valley
wheat, and quotations In that line
are nominal.

People with kidney ills want to be
cured. When one suffers the tor
tures of an aching back, relief Is
eagerly sought for. There are many
remedies today that relieve but do
not cure. Here is evidence to prove
that Doan's Kidney Pills cure, and the
cure Is lasting.
Mrs. Wesley Adcock, 414 E. Webb
street, Pendleton, Oregon, says:
"About a year ago a member of our
family was in bad shape with kidney
trouble. This person had such severe
pains In the back that work was an
impossibility and the least lifting or
any quick movement caused shan
twinges through the loins. Sound
(Jeep was out of the question and on
arising in the morning the patient
had no energy and felt very lame and
sore. Doan's Kidney Pills were used
on a friend's advice and the contents
o five boxes effected a cure. This
1 reparation Is worthy of the hlgh't-t
endorsement.'
