IIIISII POTATO CROP
MAY RE FAILURE
Dublin, Irelaml. A grave crisis
fares Ireland! Oppression Is forgot
ten temporarily, landlordism Is but
an unpleasant memory! The truth is
that, all along the western seaboard
from Relmullet to Killerles, and as
far Inland as Crossmollne and Castle
bar, blight weather has ruined the
potato crop.
Unless climatic conditions change
Miiiekly the outlook for the season's
crop of potatoes Is extremely grave.
The heavy and continued rains, ac
companied by high winds, have beat
en the vines to the earth, where they
have rotted and dried. In some of the
low lylnjf districts potato fields are
completely submerged. The greatest
anxiety prevails for the hay and oat
crops. Fruit has also suffered excessively.
A Good Reason.
Miss Gabby Laura says she came
very near refusing Freddy lasj spring.
Miss Gushby Did she say why?
Miss Catty I guess it was because
he didn't ask her.
