yards. The lot sold for this price was
In fine condition. A bunch of 242
lambs brought 16.75, which thereto
fore was considered the top value. The
run at the yards was light today and
will be light for the week unless re
ceipts are very heavy tomorrow, which

coming crop are:
Wheat In farmers' hands 5.3 per
cent, or about 38,739,000; corn area

f-,3 12,000 acres, or 4.9 per cent. Yield
o; spring wheat. 213.000.000 bushels,
winter 14 1 .000,000 .bushels; oats crop
about 1,032,000 Indicated.

Milton, Ore., July 8. While cn
refute from Milton with a parly of
friends to the mountains last eve
ning Fred Williams was accidentally
shot and Is now lying at the home
of hla uncle at Crockett In a very se
rious condition.
The young man was riding In a
cart and was carrying a loaded shot
gun. In some manner the gun fell
from his cart and was discharged, the
shot entering the left side Just above
the breast, entirely shattering the col
lar bone wh'cli had to bo removed.
The shot narrowly missed the big ar
tery In the neck which would have re
sulted In Instant death. Several shot
were removed from the back of the
head. Dr. C. W. Thomas and Dr. E.
K, Dotson attending the patient. Un
less complications set in the physi
cians have every hope of the young
man's recoverv.
Mr. Williams 1 a nephew of J. J.
Williams of Crockett, and just arriv
ed from his home in Tennessee on a
visit to his uncle. He Is 21 years old
and h is traveled consldeiablv.

confined to her room for five months
with a sore on her foot, Is ablo, to be
out in the yard with the aid of a
crutch.
The little son of Fred Parr Is re
ported as being very ill.
A bnby girl was born July 8 to Mr.
and Mrs. George Gallaher of Ferndale.
Miss Winnie Shields and Wllllo
Ueeso are homo from attendance at
the Christian Endeavor convention at
Portland. They were at Long Reach
also and report a very happy time.
Mrs. Charles Barr returned to her
home at Pasco today after a week's
visit with friends hero.
Rev. C. H. Hilton and wife who
have been attending conference at
Turner, are expected home today.
Attorney Neal of Freewater was a
visitor today.
Messrs. Hawley and True Sallng of
Coos Bay are In the city and will
spend the summer here.
