Commercial bodies of Portland have
been asked by the cll'sons of Pen
dleton to exert themselves in obtain
ing aid for the reclamation projects
In Umatilla county.. The Commercial
club will act upon the following reso
lution at Its annual meeting, to bo
held next Saturday evening:
"Whereas, There remains in the na
tional reclamation fund the sum of
$2,235,000 unexpended, to which the
Mate of Oregon Is justly entitled, and
the reclamation Hervlce has establish
ed and equipped, at great cost, the
Umatilla project located In Umatilla
nnd Morrow counties with all neces
sary offices and plant for the success
ful and economical reclamation of
several thousand acres of arid lend
lying within its boundaries, and made
the necessary preliminary surveys rml
estimates for the continuation "f the
work of reclamation, and whereas, the
experiments made upon the. land of
the said project since the application
of water to the soil have demonstrat
ed that these lands are fertile and
productive and so geographically, cli
matically and commercially situated

of this project; therefore be It
