D1KS IN PORTLAND
Testerdoy's Portland Journal con
tains an account of tho death of a
woman well known In this county,
she. having spent 'many summers at
Wennha springs. The notice follows:
Mrs. Frances Laura Inmnn, wife of
Robert D. Inman, died at the family
home, 663 East Ninth street, early
this morning as a result of complica
tions arising from a lingering Illness
from which she had been a sufferer
for a number of years. Tho funeral
will bo held Wednesday morning from
the homo, at 10 o'clock.
Mrs. Inman was very well known in
Portland, having been born here, hav
ing spent her girlhood near her birth
placo and having lived out her married
life In the city. She was the daughter
of Peter Guild, who settled on a do
nation land claim, part of which Is
yet known as Guild's lake. In the early
days. Mrs. Inman was born at the
old Guild place, August 1J, 1867, and
was consequently over 62 years of age
m the time of her death.
f For the past 20 years Mrs. Inman
had heen an Invalid and during that
nerln of 111 health had at times been
a great sufferer. In splto of this suf
fering her life had been maritea Dy
Its cheerfulness and bravery. It was
the. gradual wearing away of her
strength by her sufferings that caused
her death.

Albee, Ore., Dee. 19. There came
near being a fatal accident at the
George Ellis ranch Friday. Mr. El
lis and two boys. Gilbert and Walker,
were out in the timber fur wood, and

trip to Pilot Rock and Pendleton.

way to Pilot Rock for freight 'for the

The Rev. Warrington of Pilot Rork
preached here this afternoon at 8
o'clock then heturned to I'klah to con
duet the services there tonight.
After the rain last Sunday It turned
colder nnd has been below the freezing
point all week. Sleighing tins been
good all week. The stage company
uses the hobs between the Carney cab
ins nnd t'klah and Is mnking good
time.

ed at the Arbogast brothers saw mills.
