warned regarding tho Bending of poor
.supplies to market, but the warning
seems to have been of no avail what
ever, for u greater run of poor qual
ity has been shown of lato than ever
before. While the generally short
range and high cost of feed has some
thing to do with the sending of sup
pile of poor quality to market, most
of the trouble Is caused by shippers
who believe that anything Is good
enough for the big city markets
which view they now find a badly
ml.-taken one, for the big city mar
kets demand nothing but tho best
and buyers are Inclined to pay the
price whenever the quality Is good.
Hitting the Cuttle Market.
The cattle market was hit today to
the tune of 25e In anything but good
stock. Most of the arrivals of cattle
al this time are of the second or third
grade and packers pens are so filled
up with this kind of stuff that they
cannot be sold above $3 50 and It Is
hard to get this price today. For se
lect stock the market Is very good
with quotations ruling from 14 to
14. 2R, Host grade of cows and heifers
find the liveliest call of all and prices
In this line are very well maintained.
Hogs and sheep are quoted firm
and unchanged for quality, but off
grade stuff continues slow with gen
erally sacrificed quotations.
Today 20 horses were among the
arrivals In the yards.
