Church of the Redeemer In this city,
who yesterday preached his farewell

yesterday for Walla Walla, where ho

Louis Scholl, mayor of Echo, pass
ed through Pendleton today on his re
turn to that city from a brief visit
with his parents at Walla Walla. Mr.
Scholl's father and brother-expect to
leave shortly for Germany and his
mother will spend the winter in Chi
cago. William Schell, who has been visit
ing a few days with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. A. R. Schell, 948 Sdith ave

Mrs. J. T. Hinkle Is at Medical Lake
Wash., taking treatment for rheuma
tism. Her son Dale, returned with
his father from a visit to Grangevllle,
Idaho, while Miss Frances Is now
visiting with her grandmother at
Cranebrook, B. C, and will return
about the first of next month.
Bruce Dennis, editor of the Baker
City Herald, paid his first visit to Pen
dleton Sunday, being a guest while
hcer of J. B. Kennedy, father of El
mer Kennedy, the publisher of that
paper. Mr. Dennis was very much
impressed with Pendleton and its air
of prosperity and had the highest
praise for the town.
F. M. Oliver returned Saturday
night from a four weeks' outing In
the mountains in the southeast part
of the state. Mr. Oliver says a band
of seven elk was annihilated several
days before the season opened by un
known hunters who could not wait
for the open season. While he had a
very pleasant and profitable outing
he did not succeed In seeing any
game.

DELAYS FIELD SCHOOL.
Owing to protracted delay In having
needed repairs made at the Field
school it has been Impossible to hold
any school there yet this fail and the
time for the opening of the little
school Is still indefinite. When the
city schools first opened two weeks
ago it was tnen thought the repairs
would be completed by the following
Monday, But the work was not fin-I.-lied
by that time and It is still un
completed. Because of the delay In opening the
sthool the little tots who attend the
Field will be several weeks behind in
their work and this Is a fact that
causes regret.
