In discussing these questions the
convention unanimously endorsed the
recommendations of the special com
mittee of the State Teachers' associ
ation. The State Teachers' association
committe e took the position that
some plan should be devised where
by the Irreducible state school fund
could be enlarged sufficiently so that
it, together with the county fund,
would insure not 1-ss than six
nioi.ths of school for each district in
the state.
They proposed that the legislature
be u.-ked to provide two forms of re
lief; First, a temporary relief to be
placed In the state school fund for
u-e each year and a portion of the
funds now raised through indirect
taxation, the amount to be gradually
d in :ii.-hed as the permanent fund is
increased. Second, that permanent
r-iief be established by the state tak
i?ig possession of its unappropriated
water powers and basing crediting

Irreducible state school fund; also

that the athletic manager has been
curtailed In his power and that an

Horner addition here, who Sunday
closed their church and all turned
out into the street with pick and
shovel and built a road.
Every man, woman and child In the
addition helped In the work. The
woman served luncheon and handled
the shovel with the men. When night
fell the road was finished.
The people of the section are too
poor to hire the street work done by
contract and have decided to do U
themselves on Sundays. They have
several more streets to build In the
