Freewater. Aug. 14. R. R. Collins,
who own a small fruit tract half
mile from the city, will Install a new
and note! irrigation scheme this fall
If his present flan are carled out
He does not have an abundant supply
of surface nater for Irrigating, and
so he will install a pumping plant
with a tank holding from 3000 to
4000 gallons of water and elevated
about 15 feet above the surface of the
land.
From this tank he will lay a 2-Inch
pipe the length of his fruit tract, and
from this 2-inch pipe he will lay a
series of i-'nch pipes the full length
of tlie tract about 20 feet apart. To
these smaller pipes will be attached
hydrants, from where garden hose
will spray water all over his berry
plants. In this way he will waste no
water by having it run through the
ditches and he will be able to cover
the tract completely by means of
shifting the hose frcftn place to place.
He believes that he will save a large
quantity of water and that he will al
ways have a plentiful supply to Irri
gate his tract well when it needs It.
A plentiful suply of water is to be
fond about 20 feet under the surface
and it is possible to pump enough with
a small pump to supply a good sized
berry tract.
