Boy Supposed to Bo Drowned Is
Brought to Life by Fattier, only to
Expire Suddenly Later.
Koblesville, Ind., Aug. 11. Nelson
Pfaff, aged 15, son of Jacob Pfaff, a
well-to-do farmer, died today under
remarkable circumstances. He and
several companions 'went to Cool
creek to swim. Toung Pfaff was the
first to enter the water, and soon
after leaving the bank he sank. His
failure to appear on the surface in a
reasonable time frightened his. com
panions, who ran for assistance.
Jacob Pfaff, the father, was the first
to reach the scene, and he did not
arrive until the boy had been under
the water 20 minutes.
The lad was found without much
difficulty, and limp and apparently
dead he was carried out on the bank
by the father, who worked with him
10 minutes before he began to mani
fest signs of life. The motion of a,
muscle here and there caused the
father to renew his energies to bring
the boy back to life, and after an
hour's hard work he succeeded, the
ad finally recovering sufficiently to
walk home. A physician was called,
the water pumped out of the boy's
stomach and lungs and he was pro
nounced out of danger.
An hour after the physician left the
home the lad suddenly became worse
and died in a few minutes.
