Edna May.
Unluckily Mm. Kylo has a hus
band In Washington, Raymond Kyle,
an engraver In government employ;
and Hobson, a clean cut, well dress
ed fellow of 23 years; has a wife and
two children.
These bstacles both Mrs. Kylo and
Hobson frankly acknowledged yester
day stand In the way of their perfect
happiness. Nevertheless, Mrs. Kyle,
clasping her hands over the corsage
of l.er pink komono, exclaimed with
fervor last night:
"Nothing shall separate me from
Mr. Hobson. If ho Is dragged back
to Washington, I shall go too.
Happy Until Sleuths Came.
In fact, Mrs Kyle seemed com
pletely Hobsonlzed.
Mrs. Kyle alone went to a
boarding bouse, No. 312 West Twen

gaged two rooms, saying her hus
band, Mr. Kyle, would bo along In a
day or two. And, as she foretold,

'Mr. and Mrs. Kyle" appeared to
be very happy Indeed until early yes
terday morning. Then rudely Intrud
ed on them Lieut. Stlnson Mclvor
and Connie O'Ponncll of the central
office.
Mrs Kyle met the detectives at the
dour of tier room and vigorously pro
tested th;tl she was alone. I!ut Mc

den tinder the bed In an adjoining
room, surely an Inglorious position
for a kinsman of him who sunk the
Mei riniac In the mouth of Santiago's
harbor.
After some parley the man admit
ted thnt he was Hobson, not Kyle.
The detectives told him that Chief
of Police Sylvester of Washington
had wired lie was "wanted" on a
charge of embezzlement and the t he

On the way to police headquarters
Hobson, rather agitated, talked about
another man being In much deeper
trouble than he was In Washington,
loiter Hobson was arraigned before
Magistrate Corrlgan In the Tombs
court, charged with embezzlement,
the brief affidavit being attached to
Cbl f Sylvester's telegram. Il did not
develop what the ch.frge is nor who
makes It, nor did Hobson make any
statement to the court, but, having
changed his tune about the other
man In Washington, he said to the
newspaper men:
"They don't want mo for embez

else. The charge Is only trumped
up to get me back to Washington. I

Magistrate Corrlgan held Hobson In
$50(1 ball to await a requisition from
Washington, and he was taken to
police headquarters.
Mrs. Kylo was not In court She
willingly received a World reporter
at the boarding house last evening.
He had asked for "Mrs. Hobson."

"I wl-di It understood distinctly
that I am not Mrs. Hobson," she
said, with emphasis. "I am Mrs.
Kyle, Mrs. Raymond Kyle. I have a
husband In Washington, but I have
been separated from' hlnl for several
months."
"And Mr. Hobson Is
asked her visitor.
"Yes," she said Intensely.
"Who brought this charge against
him?"
"Any charge of embczlement Is ab
surd," returned Mrs, Kyle. "And any
charge against Edward against Mr.
Hobson has been Instituted by Mrs.
Hobson" this mot scornfully.
"I wist to say," Mrs. Kyle contin

Intensely Indignant with a reporter
who writes falsely that I seem to be
distressed only because 'my lark has
been disturbed.' This Is not a

slender hands; "this is the most ser

my life."
