The results of publicity are the same the world over,
The big advertisers are always on clover,
That the seed sown in ''ads" bring the greatest rejurns,
Is sooner or later recognized by all firms,
The poet peripatetic, dropped in town to look around,
And see where the best bargains were to be found,
And will give you a "tip" that if you'll make a vow,
To trade with the firms that he's written in rhyme,
You'll get the worth of your money avery time.
CITY BREWERY.
Schultc & Strieker, Proprietors.
When they found that Pendleton had
been voted dry,
This firm, with great enterprise,
thought that they'd try
To turn out a beverage that was so
nenr beer
They could offer to sell It without
any fear
They said, "We'll make something
that will be very good,
And will stand the test of the law of
pure food."
When our product Is offered It will be
very queer
If the people don't brng on our splen
did "Near Beer."
It puts all other Near Beer In the
shad,
Because other brewers 'don't know
how It Is made.
That this new "Near Beer' Is going to
take, .
Is a fact. For they're selling all they
can make.
For a "tonic" "Near Beer" is con
sldered quite swell,
And Is good for theslck es well as
the well.
To my mind "Near Beer" will now be
a fad.
And to get it all families will be very
glad.

The Swine and the Flower
Oh me! I saw a huge and loathsome sty,
Wherein a drove of wallowing swine were barred,
Whose banquet shocked the nostril and the eye;
Then spoke a voice, "Behold the source of LARD!"
I fled, and saw a field that seemed at first
One glistening mass of roses pure and white,
With dewy buds 'mid dark green foliage nursed ;
And as I lingered o'er the lovely sight,
The summer breeze that cooled that Southern scene,
Whispered, "Behold the source of COTTOLENE!"
