ROYAL BIRTHDAYS.
Annlverwies Will Bo Celebrated In
England.
London, May 23. Wherever the
British standard floats the subjects
of King Edward will tomorrow pay
loving tribute to the memory of his
queen-mother, the great and good
Victoria, whose birthday anniversary
this year falls on Sunday. In London
the observance commenced today and
was accompanied by the usual patriot
ic exercises and athletic events that
mark what is now called Empire
Day.
Despite the popularity of King Ed
ward among the masses of the Eng
lish people, his blrthdny has never
been marked by such exhibitions of
patroltic enthusiasm as even now ex
tends to the celebration of Victoria's
natal day. Perhaps this is largely
due to the conservatism of the Brit

come to regardM.iy 24 ns a perman

No other automobile so quickly, favorably and widely impressed itself upon
the public and the automobile trade in general as did the Pope Hartford in Pen-,
dleton. It was the the most talked-of car, the most conspicuous, most admired
and consequently the most popular. It was at once found to be reliablea car
not requiring the services of a'n expert to drive it, a car which has made a record
for itself all over the world as a hill climber and the speediest of its class.
SJhe 1908 Hartford has been on the road many weeks, has been put to every
conceivable road, hill climbing, speed and reliability test.
