by District Attorney O. W. Phelps on
charges of selling liquor to minors.
The accused men were expected to ar
rive from Echo this evening on iu
Portland local at 4 o'clock and the
hour of their arraignment was set at
that time.
The cases had been Investigated by
District Attorney Phelps before his
departure for Morrow county to at
tend circuit court lust week and upon
his return from Heppncr he Immedi
ately ordered the accused to appear
In court and the result of the case Is
being looked forward to with Interest.
At the same hour William Freeman
accused of stealing from a residence,
will be arraigned. Freeman was
brougnt down inmi nui-u
ago and Is charged with having stolen
goods from a dwelling house.
William Qulnn. who Is charged with
having converted his home In Hermls
ton Into a bawdy house, will also be
arraigned with the others and It Is
thought that he will plead guilty to the
clmrge.

kids went down to defeat before the
Athena team at that place Sunday
afternoon.
The game was Interesting from the
spectators' standpoint n there was
plenty of hitting and scoring and the
load of the vlstors was never so great

WHEAT IN FINE CONDITION.

According to the figures compiled
by the crop reporting board of the bu
reau of statistics of the department of
agriculture, the condition of Washing,
ton's and Oregon's winter wheat
leads the entire United States. In both
states the condition of the crop on
May 1 Is given as 97, which in the
case of Washington Is two points
above the condition at a correspond
ing date last year, and Is five points
above the condition of the 10-year
average for the state and 11.2 points
above the 10-year average for the
United States. The condition of this
year's crop Is 8 points above this
year's average for the entire country.
The reports show that there was but
i per cent of the total acreage aban
doned and that 449,000 acres will be
harvested. In California, 35 per cent
of the total acreage has been aban
doned and only 987,000 acres will be
harvested.
