plans aro under way for the erection
of a large flour mill In this city, sit
uated near the O. R. & N. depot
grounds, says the Weston Leader. The
power will probably be electricity and
the 'concern will be backed by promi
nent Walla Walla and Weston peo
ple. Mills of large capacity have flour
ished In Weston In the past and there
seems no good reason why history
should not repeat itself In this Instance.
It Is known that a Walla Walla mil
ler of capital and experience has vis
ited Weston on two occasions to look
the proposition over and that he Is
favorably Impresed with the outlook.
The same gentleman Is Identified with
the car line enterprise.

Gates, commercial broker, committed
suicide last night and the body, was
found by a night watchman at 2

and with a screamingly loud bandana
tied about his eyes, Mayor Murphy
drew from the revolving churn the
number which will mean $35 worth
of merchandise In the Hamley harness
store for the lucky Individual.
' The drawing took place at 11
o'clock and a large number of those
who held coupons were there to wit
ness the event. The numbers, reach
ing Into the thousands.were placed in
a revolving churn and after Mayor
Murphy had thoroughly mixed them
he was blindfolded and permitted to
draw out five numbers in succession.
If the man who holds the first
number drawn falls to show up with
in two weeks, the man holding the
next one will have a chance, and so
on.
At 3 o'clock this afternoon, the
man holding tho first number had not
put in an appearance.
