During L. T. Cooper's recent visit to
Chicago, where his new preparation

Railway company has sold a oije
third Interest In It entire properties
and lines to the Northern Pacific
railroad company. A deed conveying
these Interests wag placed on file at
Vancouver today. It la said another
third Interest will within the next few
days be conveyed In the same manner
to the Great Northern Hallway com
pany. The ownership of the remain
ing 33 1-3 per cent Is not divulged.

violated the anti-trust laws.
Result Means .Much.
Tomorrow's primaries will be a life
and. death fight for Bailey, politically
speaking. While he was elected to
the senate for another six-year term
only a year ago, It Is admitted by his
closest friends that his defeat In the
present contest would be equivalent to
a demand for his resignation. In his
public addresses at the time his re
election to the senate was pending,
he said that if a majority of the demo.
crats of the state should declare
themselves as opposed to him In prl
mary, ho would resign his seat. The
men who are leading the present fight
against him say he will have an op
portunlty to fulfill that pledge.
Both sides are already claiming vic
tory. The campaign managers for Mr.
Bailey say that he will be chosen a
ilelegate-at-large to the national con
vention by a majority of 50.000. The
antl-Palley managers claim that Cone
Johnson, who heads the ticket as Mr.
1. alley's opponent will be named by a
majority of 60.000 ot 70,000. There Is
no way of arriving at a reliable esti
mate of how the vote will stand.
Bailey and antl-Balley clubs have
been organized In almost every town
and village In the state. In some lo
calities the campaign has been at
white heat. In the larger cities, such
as Dallas, Waco, Houston. Galveston.
and Austin, the statement of the
democrats Is overwhelmingly anti
Bailey. It Is Kald that In San Antonio
and Fort Worth the Bailey support
ers are probably In a small majority.
The more thickly populated counties
In the agricultural belt of the state
are said to be strongly opposed to
Pulley, while In the ranch territory
of western and southwestern Texas,
where the voting .population Is prnn
clpally stockmen, Bailey Is the fa
vorite.
It Is claimed by the managers of the
antl-Balley campaign that , an enor
mous amount of money Is being ex
tended on behalf of Bailey, and that
the trust Interests, which they say Mr.
Bailey has represented for several
years, are putting up the funds. At
the recent rally of Bailey supporters
nt Fort Worth $25,000 was subscribed
by those present for the expenses of
the campaign. The antUBalley people
have raised about $5000 for the same
purpose.
