church here Monday, when Miss
Shumway was united in marriage to
William Coghill. The bride is a popu
lar young lady here, having lived

The next bi-monthly pay day,
which comes on April 24 and 25, will
show a total of 2200 men working In
the Bremerton navy yard, and a pay
roll of approximately $74,000 for the
two wef-ks. This will be an Increase
of 100 men and $4000 over the last

Athena, April 23. The people of
this section fully expect that the pro
moters of the electric line now being
operated between Walla Walla and
Milton, and who have secured a fran
chise to run through Weston will
make every effort to build the line
on through the Athena country and
to Pendleton as soon as possible. The
promoters have been making Inquiries
as to the best route to take to Pen
dleton, and it Is understood that they
will also make an effort to come in
touch with all wheat shipping points
en route. It is reported that Atnena
will be asked for a franchise through
the town In a very short time.
Last night the big revival meeting
uhich has been talked of for some
time opened at the Methodist church,
under the supervision or vangeni
Carradine of St. Louis. The .meeting
last night was largely attended. Rev.
Carradine proved to be an interesting
speaker, and much good promises to
result from the meetings.
Justice of the Peace Richards as

The voters of the Athena country
are pleased with the result of the elec
tion. The showing made by Cake for
senator and Barrett for representa
tive in the primaries was particularly

Mr. Shaffer, manager of the Pres-ton-Pnrton
Milling company, was
here from Waltsburg to look after

running at this time, having closed
down for a short time for some re
pairs. The mill has had a fine run
during the season.
A number of the Elks from here
went over to Walla Walla Tuesday
evening to see a class of 20 from
Pasco Initiated Into the order at
Walla Walla.
r.PArss W. Stares was over from
Weston this week exhibiting some of
his fine automobiles. He has some
prospective buyers In this vicinity.
M. L. Watts addressed the farmers
of Lamar union a few miles from
here Monday evening, on progres
sive farming.
Noah Remlllard of Walla Walla,
who owns tome fine wheat land In
this section of the country, was here
this week looking over his crop of
wheat.
C. N. Laughrlgo, one of the Weston
Normal graduates, Is now filling th
duties of assistant principal of the
Athena public schools In place of It
E. Scott, who recently left to accept
a position to teach in the Philippines.
Wheat Is looking very fine and the,
country generally never was In better
condition nt this season of the year.
Pome of the farmers are complaining

wheat. They say the weeds are worse
this year than they have been for
