ITS EARLY HISTORY.
Umatilla, Ranch was formerly
known as the O. W. Hunt ranch.
Mr. Hunt first saw this land when
freighting between Umatilla and
lioise City, in 1862. He was at
tracted by the fact that the Indi
ans always made this their winter
quarters, owing to the mild climate
and luxurious prowth of prass for
their ponies.
It was the dream of his life
to some day own this beautiful
tract and years afterward, after
he had traversed the entire coast,
freighted over the inter-mountain
country and built railroads, he re
turned and taught the land for
the purpose of converting it into
a home ranch.
Alout two years ago Mr. Hunt
sold the entire 2500 acres to the
Umatilla Ranch Co., of which
ocmpany Mr. W. H. Daughtrey is
manager, and who are the present
owners.
THIS entire tracV of land is fenced and in cultivation. IT HAS GONE THROUGH
THE "STARVATION PROCESS" and is noy producing fine crops of PEACHES,
