Sherer, division superintend ent of the International Correspond ence schools of Scranton, Pa., is in the city this week, the guest of Louis A. Cronk, local manager of the schools. There are now over 100 people In Pendleton who are taking one or more of the excellent courses of study offered by the schools. The display of books, samples of work, exhibits of articles used in the various courses of study now display ed In the windows of the Boston store, are attracting much atten tion and give an idea of the scope of work covered by this excellent sys tem of mall study. Has Sold Many Binders. John NiBsen the well known Im plement dealer, has been absent In the Pilot Rock district all week, where he la setting up a large num ber of hinders and reapers which he has sold In that vicinity. Most of the farmers in that part of the coun try will use binders or reapers In cutting their grain hay. Tho crop la excellent all over the southern part of the county and a large hay and grain yield will be harvested. Will Argue Injunction. In the circuit court today was set for the hearing of arguments regard ing an injunction asked for by the plaintiff In the case of Fred Elffert versus G. M. Harrah. The case Is one growing out of a water dispute In the north end of the county. How ever, the attorneys had not appeared in court up to 2:30 today, but were expected from Walla Walla on the mixed train. Small Crowd at Lecture. 'A very small attendance greeted the lecture by Rev. Thomas Sharp of Philadelphia at the First Christian church last evening. He Is an able speaker and merited a good audience. The subject of the lecture was "Civic Rlghtousness" and It was an able ef fort. He left this morning for his home In Philadelphia.
