We lire our muscles by exercise and then rest to restore them: yet a great many of us do not stop to think how little rest we give our stomachs. As a usual thing no part of our bodies is so generally overworked as our di getlv organs. A tired and over worked tomach will give signs of distress to which we pay no heed un til at last dyspepsia takes hold.;. In digestion Is Just a warning, and If we , heed the warning we can easily avoid further conequences. Kodol Is a i most thorough stomach relief. A Seattle dispatch says; If a decision handed down In the su perior court yesterday by Judge W. H. Snell Is upheld, the state board of bar ber examiners, at present composed of Henry Schtiller, Carl Koch and Chas. W. Whlsler, will have to go out of bus. Iness. The court declares the state law creating the board unconstitutional. In his findings In the case of the state agnlnst Carrie Walker, a woman barber, Judge Snell say It Is beyond comprehension to realize how the shaving of the face or cutting of the hair or beard has any. effect on the health of the public. Carrie Walker formerly kept a ban NEWS 110 ber shop on St. Helens avenue near the Y. M. C. A. building, supporting her- self and daughter at her trade. She took the examination required, but the board refused to issue a license to her, asserting that she was not able to pass. She continued her shop and Information was filed against her In the superior court. Attorneys for the woman demurred to the Information, on the ground that the state barber law Is unconstitutional. Judge Snell sustains the demurrer and dismisses the Information. Several Officers Abolished. The decision of the supreme court setting at naught the appointment of a fruit inspector seems In Yakima county to have struck over the shoul der; of Joe Brown the cranlums of at least four other officers. These are the sheep Inspector, the bee In spector, the game warden and the county physician. Incidentally the complexion of the various cases aris ing In connection with the work of fruit Inspection seems to have chang ed. One hope for the continuance of fruit Inspection here appears to be offered. State Horticultural Inspec tor Huntley has the power to appoint several deputy state inspectors. In the event that he has not used his privilege of appointment to Its full extent and In the further event that a local man secures one of the dep uty ships, the Yakima situation may still be saved. The need of a fruit inspector here In expressed on all sides, the people of the county being unanimous ap parently that something shall be done to Insure the safeguarding of Yaki ma products. In connection with the doing away with the fruit Inspectorship l.y the supreme court, the question has been given point as to whether the money paid by the county to the Inspector and to the other officers apparently Involved has not been given over il legally and may not be collected from the officials who made the payments. Yakima Republic. Vaccination at Coeur d'Alene. As a result of the smallpox and a vaccination order, the public schools were today ordered closed for two weeks. When smallpox broke out a few weeks ago the order was given that all children should be vaccin ated. The vaccination order has been the result of much bitter feeling and caused a war among the doctors here. While the usual fee is 60 cents, it is Bald that some of the physicians saw an opportunity to wax fut when the compulsory vac cination order was Issued, and went Into a c'omblne to charge J 2 each. Many poor people with large families were unable to pay this sum. A few physicians cut ratt's to $1 and were accused by brother doctors of un professional conduct. . Dr. Scallon, who has Just been elected mayor, said he would vaccinate free ' of charge where it was shown the parents were unable to pay. Others got mad at him and have opened war on his administration. Between the vac cination order and the truant officer the children have had a hard time. Coeur d'Alene Press. Two Men Blown In Pieces. DAHD POLITICIANS Last fall It was urged In the Idaho election that the prosecution of Moy er, Haywood and Pettlbone would fall If Governor Gooding was not re-elected, so the case against the federation officials was used to the political ad vantage of Gooding, Now comes Senator Borah of Idaho, who has been Indicted for complicity In land frauds, howling that the labor leaders have formed a conspiracy against him and begging immunity from the department of Justice. The following Washington special to the Boise Capital News gives a full review of Borah's actions: Attorney General Bonaparte yester day at the cabinet meeting Informed the president and other cabinet mem bers that Senator Borah of Idaho, has appealed to him to intervene to pre vent the federal court of Boise from pushing the case against him for con spiracy to defraud the government, sayB the News. It Is not believed that he will do so on account of the realization that to do so would subject the president to severe criticism and to the allegation that he was striving to defeat justice. Senator Borah charges that Moyer, Haywood and Pettlbone and their friends have formed a conspiracy against him to defeat their prosecution and urges that the president should Intervene, else the prosecution of the latter men may fall to the ground. He has placed his case before the department of justice and the White House most vehemently, but the gencr al view here is that he must take his chances with the federal court at Boise as any one else would have to, although It is understood here that District Attorney Ruick has been summoned to come to Washington to present the facts. It Is asserted that when Ruick has presented the facts the White House cannot Intervene without showing par tisan bias. The affair haB created in tense Interest throughout the east. Attorney General Bonaparte said MQYER HAYWOOD MTV HVW U m M lAamU -s child-birth. Correct Clothes for Men TAKE ADVANTAGE OF L today that no papers referring to the case against Senator Borah have been received at the department of justice. District Attorney Ruick has not yet reached the city. It is not known ex actly when he will arrive. Pending his arrival nothing will be given out by Bonaparte beyond his statement yes terday that Senator Borah had ap pealed to him, charging conspiracy by labor leaders against him as prose cutor of Moyer, Haywood and Pettl bone. All eastern papers say this morning that they believe Bonaparte or the president will not Intervene In behalf of Senator Borah. Although Bona parte or Roosevelt have not made a final statement, the almost unanimous expression of Washington correspon dents, telegraphed to their papers, is that to Intervene would subject the administration to severe criticism for prosecuting some senators and at the same time protecting others for po litical advantage. The Borah affair has become a na tional sensation. All the good qualities of Ely's Cream Bulm, solid, are found In Li quid Cream Balm, which is Intended for use In atomizers.
