Surveyors have been at work below Freewater, where It is rumored a line is being surveyed for an extension of the electric line of the Walla Walla Traction company, from this place through the Hudson Bay district, and thence to the Columbia river, making the terminal at Wallula. In addition to the survey having been made, it is learned that some of the right of way hat been secured. Married. Sliss Alice Hansel and O. J. Freewater'a clean-up day Wednes day was a great success in every par ticular. A big picnic dinner was given In connection. The Improve ment is much appreciated. Milton Notes. Milton, April 6. A local teachers' institute Is being held in Milton to day. State Superintendent of Schools Ackerman Is here and addressed the meeting this morning and will speak again this afternoon. The meeting is being well attended, and promises to be successful. For Spring Water. The Milton city council Is arrang ing to supply the city with pure spring water for domestic purposes by extending at a comparatively small cost the present system 2800 feet to a point above Couse creek. D. W. Eowman, who owns the land on which the springs are located, has expressed his willingness to sell to the city at a very reasonable figure the ground and right of way neces cary for the purpose, which takes In something like an acre of spring land. Efforts are being made to ex periment on the matter, however. For City Park. A movement has been started In the city by the Progressive assocuv tlon to establish a city park.
