BREAKS CP A COLD IN 10 HOURS
Breathe Hyomel and Get Quick Re
liefCures all Bronchia! Trou
bles. -
As a usual thing a remedy that haa
immediate , action contains powerful
drugs that should be used sparingly.
This is one of the reasons why the
ordinary tablets that are sold for
coughs and colds should not be taken
by people with a weak heart, as they
have a dangerous stimulating effect.
When Hyomel, however, Is
breathed quick relief la obtained in
a natural way.' Its healing medica
tion goes right to the spot where the
disease germs are present, at once
soothing and healing the Irritated
mucous membrane. Tho action In
this way Is similar to spreading a
salve upon a burn.
No other medicine for the cure of
coughs, colds and bronchial troubles
Is as rational as Hyomel. Breathing
Jt through the neat pocket inhaler
which goes with every outfit, It can
be used either In the nose or mouth,
thus getting full medication into the
nasal passages or the throat and
lungs as deslrel. It gives almost In
stant relief !n all affections of the
bronchial tubes, and is guaranteed to
break up a cold 'in ten hours. This
guarantee Is given by one of the best
known druggists In Pendleton, Tall
man & Co., with every Hyomel out
fit they zo.
A complete Hyomel outfit consist
ing of a bottle rf Hyomel, an Inhaler
that can te curried in the vest pock
et or purse, and m medicine dropper,
costs but one dollar, with a guaran
tee that If il dot-r not give satisfac
tion the money will be refunded.
Should extra bottles of Hyomel ho
needed they can he obtained for only
50c; the Inhaler lusts a life-time.
Physicians Should Register.
Although the statute strictly pro
hibits that all practicing physicians
and surgeons shall fire their license
with the county clerk in which they
reside, and keep it on file constant
ly, there Is not a single license on file
on the records of County Clerk Nich
ols. This fact was brought to Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney Taylor'e atten
tion during the recent controversy In
the Fannie Walte case. Mr. Taylor
later took up the matter with the at
torney general and received an opin
ion from the latter this morning ttat
Ing that the law required the filing
of a lice'nse to practice medicine with
the county clerk.
Deputy Taylor said this afternoon
that under the ruling of tho attorney
general no doctor In this city could
bring a suit to collect fees and be
sustained by the courts, because of
their fnilure to comply with the law.

Frozen Mutton for Canada.
Word comes from Ottawa that
having succeeded with xperlnientul
shipment of frozen Australian mut
ton to British Columbia points and
even as far east as Winnipeg. Man.,
an Australian exporting house has
chartered the entire cargo space of
the Canadian-Australian steamers
fram Sydney until March next. The
contract covers 30,000 carcasses and
also peltries, pickled opossum and
rabbit skins for Canadian manufac
ture, says the American Sheep Breed
er. It is said that the trade has enor
mous possibilities In supplying the
west practically with fresh meat of
a kind far preferible to anything now
available at the same price. There is
said to be every prospect that Argen
tina will also attempt to cater to the
Canadian market with chilled meat
or this kind. This looks as If the
sheep business Is not yet overdone on
ibis, great continent of ours.

TAXATION OF LIEU LANDS.
No Assessment Until Final Receipt Is
Issued.
In reply to a query from District
Attorney Frank Menefee, of The
Dalles, Attorney General Crawford
yesterday rendered an opinion regard
ing the taxation of Indemnity selec
tions made in lieu of forest reserve
lands. The opinion says:
Replying to yours of the 21st Inst.,
asking the opinion of this office as to
whether indemnity selections made in
lieu of forest reserve lands are tax
able as soon as the selection and segre
gation Is made In the local office, or
are they free from taxation until such
time as the secretary of the Interior
approves the list of selections and
passes them for patent, permit me to
say, in my opinion they are free from
taxation until the list of selections is
approved by the secretary of the in

The general rule laid down by
nearly all of the cases Is to the effect
that lands are assessable for taxing

NOW THE, TALK OF THE TOWN
At last people are waking up to the
immense bargains being offered by
this great and progressive house. There
has never been a time In the history
of the piano business just like the
present. Business conditions make
business changes. The Ellers House
has had more goods In the town of
Pendleton than was necessary to take
care of the trade. People storing
their pianos with thera overcrowded
their warerooms and they were com
pelled to resort to some method
whereby they could diminish the
stock. Since opening their sale on the
11th of the month they have disposed
of a number of beautiful pianos, but
still have quite a number of others
left which for beauty of case and
quality of tone cannot be excelled.
The prices and terms are wonderfully
reasonable and to be convinced of this
fact the citizens of this town and coun
ty should call at once and see them.
You can buy a beautiful piano now
