Vlnol Is not a palliative but a curative." This Is because Vlnol contains In a highly concentrated form all of the healing, strength-creating and medic inal elements of cod liver oil actually taken from fresh cod's livers, with all the useless, nauseating oil eliminated and tonic iron added. It tastes fine and cannot upset the weakest stom ach, hence Its wonderful power to cure. ' We ask every person In Pendleton who has a chronic couph or hard cold to try Vlnol on our guarantee. The mare was dead and the colt was so weak and hungry It could scarcely walk. The animals had been missing for about n month but Shcrm thought that they had gone back on the range and no fur ther attention was given the matter, as the fences were down. Al Craven and Arthur Mulkcy had an occasion to visit the barn and the first thnig to attract their attention was a strong odor coming from a stall. On ex amination they found the animals were locked In the barn. It seems that the animals had gone In thsre to seek shelter fvom the storm and the wind had blown the door shut. Long Creek Ranger. ATHENA BRET HEilMATISM AN ACID BLOOD POISON Rheumatism is an acid blood poison, and the causes that produce it arc often silently accumulating In the system for years. Poor digestion, stomach troubles, weak kidneys, torpid liver, and a general inactive condi tion of the system leaves the refuse and waste matter, which should be carried off, to sour and form uric acid, which is absorbed into the blood. When the blood is in this acid-charged condition, it deposits the poisons and irritating particles with which it is loaded in the muscles,' nerves, joints and bones. Then Rheumatism gets possession of the system, and life is made miserable by its pains, aches and discomforts. The changing of the weather, exposure to cold and dampness, etc.. always increase the trouble, and so severe does the pain become that quick relief must be had. A good liniment or plaster is often helpful, but it should be re membered that relief from such treatment is only temporary, because the trouble is in the blood and cannot be re moved by external applications. S. S. S. cures Rheumatism by ridding the blood oi the cause. It goes down into the circula tion and by invigorating and purifying the blood of the acid-poison and sendinsr a PURELY VEGETABLE stream of fresh, rich blood to all parts, re lieves the pain, reduces the inflammation, and permanently cures this painful disease. S. S. S. is the only safe treat ment for Rheumatism, because it does not contain a particle of mineral in any form to damage the system. Book on Rheumatism and any medical advice desired sent free. How the great part of tlmberless 1-ind in Grant county was taken Into the forest reserve has been a mystery to the people of Grant county. This s how it happened. The government had in ;ts employ n foreigner, a Nor wegian by the nnme of Erlckson. Mr. Erickson had not been over long and could scarcely make himself under stood in English. He went through Grant county and recommended that 't be put In the forest reserve and It was done. Whole sections that do not contain enough tres to supply winter's fuel to a single family, are a pare of the forest reserve because a foreigner recommended that those sections be put in the reserve. Mr. Erlckson made a ride through Long Creek and climbed a butte and took a survey of the country and then made his recommendations. He drove lo the hitching rack, ate his dinner at the hotel and drove off without feeding his horses. He had a few wraps, and when he came to a particularly cold, windy spct his driver remarked to him that It was disagreeably cold. He replied that it wasi.'t cold enough, and that it waa the first time hn had been comfor table since he left Norway. Long Creek Ranger. Mysterious Noises Continue, The Ranger printed an account of the rtrange sounds that are heard In this end of Grant county two weeks ago and since then, the unknown sounds have been attracting more at tention than previously and all man ner of storien are afloat as to their origin. Some of the newspapers have taken up the tory and have tried to account for the mystery, but It Is safe to say that their suppositions are not well founded. There are very few people who live here who have not beard the strange thunder and some who affirm that they have experienced a trembling of the earth. The most pronounced ef fort came from the neighborhood be low Rltter where last Sunday morn lrg M-. John Wright's family, declare that the dlrhes in the pantry rattled from the rhaklng and that they ex perienced a small earthquake. Long Creek Kantrer. Pacific Coast Needs Laborers.
