Percentage of Cures Has Reached 09.33 Per Cent Where Strict Record Was Kept Federal Inspectors in Pendleton Are Part of an Immense Government Bureau Work of the Bureau Is Reducing Stock Diseases. Few people who have not investl-) gated the subject have little idea of the Immense extent of the operations of the bureau of animal Industry or federal stock Inspection, which is represented In Pendleton by Drs. Ly tle and Plnkerton, federal stock In spectors. The year book of the department of agriculture, which has Just been Issued gives some interesting statis tics of the work of this important bureau, and while the reports of the federal Inspectors located In this city are but Infinitesimal drops in the great department, yet the aggregate of the service performed by this de partment is remarkable. Py the report of the department It is shown that 17.000,000 sheep have been dipped for scab Ly the depart ment in the past year. This Is the greatest number ever handled by the department and has Increased from 672.944 In 1899. by rapid strides to the enormous total of the past year. The number of cattle Inspected for mange by the department ifi the past year was over 14.000.000 and the number of dippings of cattle reached 663.394 head. The number of horses Inspected for mange was 15, 971. The department cleaned and disinfected 29.897 Btock cars in mak ing them ready for interstate ship ments. The report of the secretary of agrl culture says that the work of the bu-1 reau of animal Industry has succeed- , ed In ridding several badly Infected states of sheep scab and has reduced the percentage of scab perceptibly in every state In which that disease is found. The percentage of cures through the dippings of 6.000,000 head of sheep of which strict records were kept, was 99.35 per cent. , - - --- past pastor of the Congregational Hereafter all saloons In Salem, In- church at Genessee, Idaho, has resign cludlng hotel bars, must close at mid- ed and will devote himself to life In night. . The contracting of a cold is generally the commencement ringing noises in the ears, nose stopped up, mucus dropping back into the throat, hawking and spitting, etc. The inner skin or mucous membrane of the body becomes inflamed and secretes an unhealthy mat ter which is absorbed into the blood, and Catarrh becomes a serious and dangerous blood disease. Every day the blood becomes more heavily loaded with these poisonous secretions, and as the poisoned blood constantly passes through the lungs they become diseased, and often Catarrh terminates in Consumption. Sprays, washes, inhalations and such treatment do no real good, because they do not reach the poison-laden blood, where the real PURELY VEGETABLE blood lystem, Catarrh is driven out and a lasting cure made. The inflamed mem branes and tissues heal, the secretions cease, the head is cleared and the entire ystem renovated and put in good for free book which contains valuable for any special medical advice you desire, without charge, THE S WITT The Habit of Health Many people have a habit of ailing.
