Land Deals.
Pearson & Hirst, the real estate
dealers, have sold 24 acres of alfalfa
land belonging to Miss Oraee M.
Crockett and Mrs. Otto Fj. Pillion, to
Andy and William Johnson, for a con
sideration of $2Sn an acre. The land
is located three miles north of town,
and the purchasers will divide It In
six-acre tracts and place It on the
market. The Walla Walla electric
line runs along one side the land.
E. S. Isaacs of Walla Walla, has
purchased one lot and a small dwell
ing on Depot street for $T50, which
he will hold until a little later, when
he will erect a large building on the
property.
A. S. Pearson sold four lots on the
corner of Main and Grant streets, to
Mrs. Helen Dyer, for a consideration
of $550.
The Electric Lino.
The Walla Walla Traction company,
which is building a line through Mil
ton and Freewater. has secured its
right of way through Milton, but have
as yet not secured a franchise for
right of way through Freewater. Sev
eral different ways are being dis
cussed. The plan of coming through
west of Depot street Is. now in favor,
although the company objects some
what, saying it will make the line
longer to Milton. The route will be
decided on shortly and the road will be
through here by Christmas unless bad
weather hinders building somewhat.
The late heavy rains have washed
out the temporary bridge constructed
across the Walla Walla river below
town, which will delay work for some
days. As soon as the damage Is re
paired the company will move camp
to the Christian place in Freewater,
and .work from this end of the line.
Sells Itivldcnco.
Oram Allen has sold his residence
property next to the old Badgero
house to Sam Krelsman for $500.
John Hire, the former editor of the
Floods Damage Property.
The mr.st serious damage done last
week by the floods was to the McCoy
property and the T. L. Ragsdale prop
erty, where the Walla Walla river cut
deep channels through their places,
leaving the old channel dry and de
stroying valuable land for these par-tie.-.
The old channel has been filled
with rock and debris, and unless
something Is done much valuable
property will be lost along the river
near here. It Is understood that the
property owners will ask the Umatilla
and Walla Walla county courts to re
pair the levees.

UIUTISH TRADE OVSTED.
Americans Host Them In Mexican
Competition.
London, Eur., Nov. 21. In a con
sular report published today it Is stat
ed that there Is a great falling off in
trade between Mexico and Great
Britain both In quantity and value, as
compared with the United States. The
report states that the geographical ad
vantages possessed by the United
States are offset by the great sea
transportation which Britain can of
fer It being possible to ship freight
from Liverpool to Vera Cruz cheaper
than goods can be sent from New
York, Chicago or other American
cities to either Tamplco or Vera Cruz,
or by rail alone to Mexico City. In
conclusion the report states that the
British have practically withdrawn
from Mexico Just at the time when
the seed which they so plentifully had
sown was about to fructify.
